David Janssen: Our Conversations - The Final Years (1973-1980)

"What impresses me is the flavor and cadence of the writing. They were all David. It was a joy to read and brought back so many memories of my own." - Les Lannom, actor

"I didn't feel like I was reading a book; instead, it felt like I was listening to actual conversations taking place. It was an honor to see the friendship between Phelps and Janssen grow throughout the years." - author, Norma Budden

Please note: this story is told in two volumes. Be sure to check out the first part of the story, David Janssen – Our Conversations: The Early Years.

Despite their on-again, off-again courtship and his desire not to get married, David allowed Dani Greco to take control of his finances.

In his professional life, he becomes Harry O - interjecting a lot of his own real-life eccentricities, endearing him to his fans even more. He went on to assume various roles in 12 Made-for-Television films and 6 Feature films between 1974-1979.

We are introduced to Carol Connors, a singer and songwriter David met while collaborating on the song, 'My Sensitive, Passionate Man,' during a lengthy separation from Dani. He seemed to have found true happiness and had no interest in hiding his relationship with Carol. However, Dani controlled his finances, causing him to feel trapped.

Living alone in his Malibu Beach home, David quietly explored the cost of a divorce and learned he would not lose everything. At a time when he likely felt the greatest sense of inner peace, the huge hand of fate brought everything to an end.

About the Author

MICHAEL PHELPS, (the AUTHOR - NOT the Olympic Champion) began his writing career as Co-Author of 'DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE' with the iconic actors' first wife, ELLIE JANSSEN. Originally published in Hardcover by Lifetime Books, Inc. in December of 1994, with Paperback Editions released in 1995, 1996 and 1997. The book sold in excess of 1.2 Million copies, world-wide.

Taking early retirement as Chief Investigator for a prominent Miami (Florida) Law firm, specializing in criminal defense, Mr. Phelps chose to embark on the challenging career of being an Author. He promised himself he would never co-author a book again, especially with the ex-wife of a celebrity. He chose to write novels based on something he is well versed in; police procedurals, detective novels and court room cases based on actual crimes.

His debut novel, "THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE" is based on the murder of his close friend and one time mentor, Detective Sergeant Jack R. Ohrberg, Robbery & Homicide unit of the Indianapolis Police Department. In this novel, the first book of the Mike Walsh Detective Novels, Mr. Phelps describes the personal, family life as well as the professional lives of the men and women who serve and protect their communities, all to often paying the ultimate price.

The second book in the series, "THE JOCKEY'S JUSTICE" is based on a murder case Mr. Phelps investigated for the law firm. A respected horse racing Jockey is brutally murdered on the last day of the racing season at a Kentucky Race course. The case remained Unsolved for eight years, when the widow and son-in-law are arrested at their homes in Miami, Florida. They retain high-profile criminal defense attorney Frank Piazzo to represent them. His Chief Investigator, Mike Walsh and his assistant are dispatched to Kentucky to invesigate the very cold case and unearth evidence to prove his clients' innocence. "THE JOCKEY'S JUSTICE" takes the readers on a roller coaster ride into the sleazy underbelly of the "Sport of Kings".

Having been urged and inspired by many, many fans of DAVID JANSSEN, Mr. Phelps took a long journey into the past with his friend, DAVID JANSSEN. His Memoir; "DAVID JANSSEN~Our Conversations, Volume One - The Early Years (1965-1972) and Volume Two - The Final Years (1973-1980)" is now available. In this Memoir, Mr. Phelps recounts hundreds of conversations between Mr. Janssen and himself, over the last fifteen years of Mr. Janssen's life.

Mr. Phelps is a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force-Military Police, (Viet Nam). He is divorced and splits his time between his home in Miami Shores, Florida and New York City.
