Editorial Reviews

Terror is descending on the realm of the Clans. With the destruction of the forest, cats are mysteriously disappearing, one by one. Now the young felines who left on a quest many years ago are returning with a chilling message: The Clans must move to a new home to face extermination. But leaving their longtime habitat exposes the cats to unfathomable dangers. Without a clear destination in sight, can they even hope for any final rest?
Children's Literature
The third book in the series "Warriors: The New Prophecy" finds the four clans of cats forced to decide what to do about the destruction of their homes by the Twolegs and their mechanical monsters. Inspired by a dream, six young cats—two from Thunderclan, two from Riverclan, and one each from Windclan and Shadowclan—have traveled a long way to the sun-drown-place to hear the prophecy of Midnight the badger, who tells them that they must bring the clans to the Great Rock where they will be shown the way to their future homes by a dying warrior. The clans are reluctant to leave familiar territory, but are convinced when the Twolegs' invasion of their lands leaves them with no shelter and too little prey to sustain life. Their desperate journey takes them across highways and mountains and brings them assistance from a wilder group called the Tribe of Rushing Water. Along the way, there are deaths and a kidnapping, but the clans reach the Great Rock and are able to follow the sign of the dying warrior to a place where they will make a new home. The story shows how difficult it can be for four separate and sometimes hostile groups to work together for a common goal, but also shows the rewards of that cooperation. The cats have distinct personalities and physical characteristics, but without the extensive lists of their descriptions in the front of the book it would be almost impossible to keep them straight. 2005, HarperCollins, and Ages 10 up.

Kirkus Reviews
The plight of the four cat Clans becomes desperate in this third installment of a series with good plotting but cloying diction. Twolegs (humans) and their monsters (bulldozers) are destroying the woods and moors where the Clans live. The Twolegs fell oaks, capture and cage any cats they get their hands on and rip ShadowClan's den right out of the ground. Prey is dangerously scarce. There's been a message from StarClan (ancestor gods) about the Clans striking out for new territory. But where and when? Should the Clans travel together or remain rivals? Hunter intersperses action sequences with stretches of plot-appropriate waiting, during which the cats are hungry and anxious. Religion and conflicting loyalties are well-integrated themes. "Meowed" and "mewed" (replacing "said") and the twee term "kittypet" lower the narrative's dignity, while the cats' annoyingly similar names (Leafpaw, Squirrelpaw, Brambleclaw) run together. However, a current of warmth runs underneath the distractingly precious prose, making the cats easy to care about. (name chart, maps) (Fantasy. 8-11)

Though this isn't called the Great Journey until later books, "Dawn" is the book when the Clans leave the forest to find a new home. This book is narrated by Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw, who unfortunately grow more distant due to certain events. Yes, the sisters who had telepathic connections grow distant. I wasn't very pleased with that. But that is another book or so, there are bigger problems: The Clans are pretty much dying. Old friends are left behind, and we get angst and a touching warrior ceremony for a certain WindClan apprentice. The Clans really work together in this book. I actually didn't find this one pretty compelling, but alot of things happen. I feel bad about those left behind/that died (even though one's story is continued in another book), and I still miss the forest, even though the next series (which I'm on now) takes place in the Clans' new home. This book is probably best for those who are at least eleven or twelve-it gets pretty dramatic. You'll be left ready to buy Starlight right away!

I came across this series (Into the Wild, the one with Firestar when he first came to the forest) in the nook store on FreeFriday, and I loved the first book but never bought any more. Then i started reading more and I love them. Definitly recommend this.

The four diffrent clan cats(Feathertail died)have finally returned to there home to find it destroyed by twolegs. The for diffrent clan cats(Squirrelpaw,Crowpaw,Brambleclaw and Tawneypelt)are furious about the hunger. Finally all clans are forced to move out of the forest and find a new home. Join the clans as they go find a new home!

These books are all thrilling and leave you hanging on at every word. I wish they put more importance into Firestar though, instead of turning him jnto a background character.

Warriors: Dawn by Erin Hunter is one of the best books I've ever raed. It follows the adventures of various wild cats as they try to survive in their forest homes. So when I saw the word 'cat' I just picked the book up and started reading. The series in the books are still going on. They've all ready made a manga version of Warriors, and it's very interesting. One of my favorites in the series is Dawn, the third book from Warriors: The New Prophecy series. I like this one cause it's very cool but very sad at the same time. In Dawn, something terrifying happens in the world of the Clans. The cats are being taken away by Twolegs, also ThunderClan's beloved medicine cat apprentice, Leafpaw. So now the young cats who set off on a quest many moons ago came back, even though all but one have return, with a chilling message: The Clans must move to a new home, or risk extermination. In the end...I'm not gonna tell! You have to read the book to see what happens. But if you haven't read the series yet, go and start now. You'll love the book when you read the first chapter.

Rise of BloodClan Chapter 13 (before I write this let me make sure you know this is Willowfur telling the stories) - Willowfur(Scourge's mate) Scourge's ice-blue eyes met his mate's gaze "I'm going to hunt at the Twoleg park. You and Bone are in charge while I am gone, Willow," Scourge meowed. Jumping down, Scourge padded to the Twoleg park. He stopped. Something caught his gaze. "Hollyleaf, the battle with DarkForest is coming and we must be prepared," mewed a gray tom. Scourge froze. "I know, Jayfeather. Thats why Firestar asked us to spy here," meowed a black she-cat. "Hey Lionblaze, did you notice anything strange lately?" Hollyleaf asked. "Are you mouse-brained? Ask Jayfeather! I'm not a medicine cat, Hollyleaf," Lionblaze retorted. "Mouse-brained yourself! You are one of the Three, aren't you? You can't be beaten in even the most fierce battles!" Hollyleaf shot back. "Well you're not. Dovepaw is and she has the skills that allow her to smell and see things that other cats cannot," Lionblaze rasped. Hollyleaf winced. "Stop it guys! A DarkForest warrior could hear us!" Jayfeather hissed. "Well DarkForest must have taken mercy on you. But I haven't!" Scourge hissed, leaping out of the bushes. "S-Scourge!" Hollyleaf shrieked. To Be Continued...............
