Although I've never been a very big fan of Arthurian legend I did enjoy this little book. The author presents a unique portrayal of the usual characters, especially Morgan and Merlin, who are the story's leads. He is youthful and strong and good with a sword and she is passive and introverted and incognito as a boy. Fans of the mythos will appreciate the different personalities. Overall, the book is well written, engrossing, and hard to put down. I highly recommend it, especially for the price.

I don't know. I actually like romantic fantasy, but there actually needs to be some chemistry and romance. The writing was actually quite descriptive, but I was confused to whether this was a fantasy story that happened to have some romance or a romance story that happened to be fantasy. Either way I just wasn't satisfied.

I'm a fan of the mystery that revolves around the King Arthur stories and especially Morgan--- I'll admit I like the way she's portrayed in Mists of Avalon--- which is why this did appeal to me. Descriptions were quite vivid and well laid out. The only thing that is too much too quick was the romance side of it, but even that had a sweetness to it.

I dont know what i was expecting when i got this book. I heard, read, and seen so many different different stories about merlin and morgana. this one though, was really actually interesting to read. yea it's short but a good read.
I think a lot more couldve been done with it, but in its entirety it was good

Although there were a few typos in the text, this was a good read. I never thought about Merlin as a young man, but Anna Elliott did a great job bringing him to life in this short novel. There was just enough romance and not too much information in the reading to make it suitable for all ages. Overall, a great read!

As a longtime fan of Arthurian mysteries, I was quickly engrossed in a different possibility for some of the well known charachters that appear in these legends.
My engrossment became dismay when the book abruptly peaked and ended.
Writing style is not as deep and detailed as many Arthurian books, possibly geared for younger readers.

This was really good, it was definitely a new way to look at Merlin and Morgan, an angle I hadn't considered before. Anyone who likes the Arthurian legend will like this.

Not particularly well written and the story was, at best, disappointing. Not what you would want as a beginning for Merlin. If you enjoy this period in historical novels, there are other much better series. I would recommend Mary Stewart's books highly.

They seem to fall in love, but it is uncertain if it will last. With Morgan's troubled family life and dark future combined with the fact that Merlin has no memory nothing will be easy. When you read The Dawn of Avalon keep in mind that this it is only telling you the begining and will end abruptly after 176 pg.s. Based on this enticing novella however the series is on my wish list and I am please to say that though there are some gory descriptions there are no in depth sensual descriptions. Over-all this is a nice introduction with vivid imajery and good plot. The story was well developed if a little less griping than it could have been, and I am glad to see mature authors who write at this level for free. I will definately look for more.

Interesting plot, good descriptions. I like anna elliotts writing a lot. The story wasnt completely resolved at the end, but thats to leave us wanting more so we'll read the next avalon books, which I dont mind. I like them all. Great read for a short story.

The story was just really getting interesting when it came to an abrupt, unsatisfying end. Was ok for a quick read.
