Meet the Author

David Baldacci

David Baldacci is the author of 23 books for adults, each of which has become both a national and international bestseller. His astonishing career started with ABSOLUTE POWER, which was adapted into a major motion picture starring Clint Eastwood. David's books have sold more than 110 million copies worldwide, and been translated into more than 45 languages. Together with his wife, Michelle, David established the Wish You Well Foundation® to promote family literacy. David and his family live in Northern Virginia.

Biography

David Baldacci's authoritative legal thrillers operate on the irresistible notion that a sinister undercurrent threads through the country's most powerful institutions.

While his stories hinge on the complex machinations behind the presidency, the FBI, the Supreme Court and other spheres of influence, Baldacci (a former Washington, D.C.-based attorney) finds his way into a mystery through the eyes of the innocents. Semi-innocents, at least: small players who often don't realize they're players at all end up hunting down answers, and their hunt becomes the reader's.

According to Baldacci, reading John Irving's The World According to Garp convinced him that he wanted to be a novelist. Absolute Power -- in which a thief finds himself accidentally connected to a murder involving the president and the ensuing coverup -- was hardly Irvingesque; but it did begin Baldacci's friendly relationship with the bestseller lists, which has continued over his writing career.

Baldacci's style is brief and plot-driven, but he's not afraid to linger on macabre and vivid details, such as a rosary clenched in a plane crash victim's hand, or hard-learned lessons from a sniper's life (pack your food so you can find it at night, by touch). These small but memorable -- indeed, almost cinematic -- details give his books another layer that distinguishes them from the average potboiler.

Although the author has occasionally departed from his usual fare (examples include the tenderhearted coming-of-age tale Wish You Well and the holiday-themed adventure The Christmas Train), it is high-octane thrillers that are his true stock in trade. Whether it's a taut stand-alone or a new installment in his Camel Club series, readers know when they crack the spine of a new Baldacci book, they're in for an action-packed page-turner.

.

Good To Know

Baldacci was a trial lawyer and a corporate lawyer for nine years in Washington, D.C.

He worked his way through college as a Pinkerton security guard and by washing and detailing 18-wheel trucks.

Baldacci writes under his own name except when published in Italy, where he uses a pseudonym because it is the homeland of his ancestors.

Bill Clinton selected The Simple Truth as his favorite novel of 1998, according to Baldacci's web site.

First to actually read the book and post on it. You could definitely tell the author was interested in Fiske's character a bit too much. I rate down a star mainly because of a certain favorite character's death. I also didn't approve of Amy's romantic choice. I also disliked how Ian was downplayed him, being such a staple character. But the story and plot was amazing and I liked what he did with Isabel.

    I really LOVE this book.

This heart-pounding novel is just EPIC. But it is ALSO very sad.
Caution: spoilers ahead! I'll give you plenty of space to turn baaaack!

    Ok. Here it goes:

Vesper One is really a young guy named Damien Vesper.
Sinead is the mole but later in the book realizes what she did
and switches back to the Cahill side.
AJT was never really Dan's dad; it was Isabel! She found out about the extra flask of syrum Dan kept in his knapsack and...
    (Gasp) took it!!!
Wait, I need to back up. Dan didn't take the real syrum; Amy
found it and made a fake one.
Amy cheats on Evan with Jake... And then Evan DIES!!! It made me (almost) hate her.
Also, Natalie and Isabel die. Natalie got electrocuted by the Doomsday device and Isabel dies when the device blows up. She wasn't working with Vesper One.
    That's all for now.

If you read all that and you HATE spoilers, don't say I didn't warn you.
    Worth ten bucks!!!

    Great finish

This was a great book to finish the cahills vs. vespers series. I thought that it took the author a few chapters to make it sound like the charachers in the other books. I was happy that he included the hostages much more that the other books. I was very upset at who did not make it in the end. I wish that vesper one would have remained more of a mystery in the book instead of just saying who it was. Loved the choice amy made about eho would be her boyfriend. I thought this was a great book but i gabe it 4 stars due to the author not capturing the characters right away. Cant wait for 39 clues unstoppable book one!! Comes out fall of 2013 and is written by jude watson!!!! For first look, complete the mission for this book on the website

SPOLIER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so angry at Amy for choosing Jake over Evan. I really like Evan and am soooo sad he died. Jake often times was a big jerk and i like Evan way better. Why did she choose him? Jake was so cheesy in that closet where he to he he loves her. He is just so self centered. And the who mushy romance thing was stupid. I agree with Dan. Th whole they gazed at each other longingly and the really cheesy bits from Amy were over kill. Super dissapointed with the romance. But i really enjyed the rest of the book. I like how Isabel turns red because Dan mixed red m&ms in the serum. :) Im glad vesper one didnt turn out to be Dan's father. I wonder how they end up. Like do amy and jake get married? I was suprised to hear that theres gonna be anothet book. Seriously? They r really stretching it. Like the warriors series. Good series but too many books. All in all a reccomended book. Glad i bought it.

This book is AMAZING!!!! I was a little disapointed on who doesn't make it, but the rest of the book makes up for it!! I won't say any spoilers, but I couldn't believe most of Fiske's plans!! I wont say what they are, but they were pretty EPIC!!!!!!!
