Overview

A ritual murder on a remote island under the shifting skies of the aurora borealis.
A staff of power that can summon Ragnarok, the Viking apocalypse.

** From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author J.F.Penn **

When Neo-Viking terrorists invade the British Museum in London to reclaim the staff of Skara Brae, ARKANE agent Dr. Morgan Sierra is trapped in the building along with hostages under mortal threat.

As the slaughter begins, Morgan works alongside psychic Blake Daniel to discern the past of the staff, dating back to islands invaded by the Vikings generations ago.

Can Morgan and Blake uncover the truth before Ragnarok is unleashed, consuming all in its wake?

Day of the Vikings is a fast-paced, action adventure thriller set in the British Museum, the British Library and the islands of Orkney, Lindisfarne and Iona. Set in the present day, it resonates with the history and myth of the Vikings.

What is the definition of a novel?

To me a novel is not 68 pages long. I think B&N should note that these are quick reads or novellas or short stories or something.

Story was interesting, a re-hash of many others of the genre.

Day Of The Vikings by J. F. Penn continues Dr. Morgan Sierra's adventure in the ARKANE series and brings in Blake Daniel from The London Psychic Series. Together they try to save the world from Neo-Viking terrorists who try to use the staff of Skara Brae to awaken Ragnarok, a Nordic god, whose awakening would cause an Apocalypse.

This is a fast-paced story as Morgan Sierra rushes to stop the Neo-Viking destruction. The story line is exciting, but cramming the exploits into one day's event seems implausible and too convenient. I would have loved for this to be a longer story. Putting incredibility aside, the story is a quick, fun read.

    Lack of knowledge

I am sure this is a fine story, but the errors regarding a woman's place during the Viking era, even to serve the story, threw me out of it and I couldn't get back in.

    Short

As already reported the story is short. Worth the quick read and definitely piqued my interest to read more, which I guess would be the intent of this story.

Joanna Penn has done it again. Extending the literary footprint

Joanna Penn has done it again. Extending the literary footprint of her enjoyable ARKANE thriller series and combining it with her new crime drama,
she’s managed to craft an interesting, rollicking adventure rolled up in a novella.

Crisp dialogue and action-forward plot points keep this story moving. Immersive scene description and surprisingly deep character development
add weight and believability to this fun, engaging read. And because she is a research maven, the story itself is as informative as it is entertaining.

If you’re looking for a unique, well-constructed story and amusing read, join Morgan Sierra and Blake Daniel in their day from Ragnarok.
