Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carollyne Hutter
With this book, the reader travels up a mountain and sees how the environment changes the higher you go. The book begins at the base of the mountain where trees are abundant and little bears romp, and goes all the way past the tree line to where there is only snow and insects. It is written in rhyme and accompanied with attractive illustrations, giving an overall charming presentation. The book combines the feel of a vibrant picture book with scientific information. The back of the book includes information about mountain ecosystems and contains sections such as Mountain to Arctic Pole Map Comparison, Above or Below the Tree Line Game, and Match the Animals. Additional teaching activities and interactive quizzes are available on thebpublisher's website. The book is perfect for children to learn about mountain ecosystems. It can be used in science units and in celebration of Earth Day. Because of the rhyming text and charming illustrations, the book can also be used in reading classes. Reviewer: Carollyne Hutter

I purchased this book and donated it to my son's second grade classroom. The children have been studying habitats and doing reports on animals. The author is also scheduled to be at our local Barnes and Noble store which I thought might add to their learning excitment if they had the opportunity to also be able to meet the author. A wonderful book and I hope to be able to pick up the other book by this author about Life in a Sea Marsh to add to the class collection. Perfect for K through 2.
