All Music Guide - Andrew Leahey
"I love the Smiths", Zooey Deschanel enthuses during the early moments of 500 Days of Summer, thus setting the stage for her relationship with Brit-pop fanatic Joseph Gordon-Levitt. With music playing such an integral role in the story line, it's refreshing to see that the accompanying soundtrack does its job well, distilling the characters' record collections not to mention the movie's quirky, nostalgic ambience into one eclectic track list. Another Smith -- the whimsical singer/songwriter Meaghan Smith -- delivers one of the album's most poignant moments with a cover of "Here Comes Your Man," a tune that holds it own amidst a collection of folk classics and British pop hits.

    Awesome Soundtrack!

If you never saw the movie, you may think these are all love songs. If you did see it, you know these are not love songs, but songs about love. With love, comes heartbreak. This is a unique collection of music with varying styles and languages. Yet, still the same feeling of love and despair. I love it!

    I Also Recommend:

500 days of summer = great music!

I went to the movies with my friend and saw 500 days of Summer. It was in my opinion, the best film of the summer, with great music from the 60's till now. It has The Smiths, The Temper trap, and other great bands. I really loved it!

One tip: DO NOT play the CD in full blast, with the windows wide open, and you dancing with the music... neighbors WILL think you're insane. (Happened to me.)

    Highly recommended

I purchased this album after seeing the movie in theaters because I thought the music was great. I hadn't heard of most of the artists on the album before, but I haven't stopped listening to it since I bought it a few days ago (along with some other albums by the artists on this one). I definitely recommend checking it out.
