Editorial Reviews

Detroit Free Press
This smart book has cool photos, great facts, and a fun design.
Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Part of a new series "Eyewitness Readers" this offering provides an exciting and readable account of life during the Middle Ages when lords lived in castles and battles for lands and wealth were not uncommon. The story is enhanced by the sidebars that call out interesting facts, expand on the subject, or introduce new and related information. The story will be of interest to both boys and girls and the excellent mix and quality of the illustrations make this book stand out. It also has great potential for ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) and adult literacy programs because the subject matter will appeal to a very broad age range. This particular title is pegged at level 4 (grades 2-4). It includes a glossary.
