    Great Illustrations

I bought this because of the pictures! They are so brilliant and make me long for the country. The stories are good, not excellent; but the girls (ages 5&3) love them anyway.

    Good for several age groups

This book a collection of very short stories and is engaging enough for a 2 year old and would be good for early readers to practice their reading skills. The illustrations are beautiful and made me want to sell the house, quit my job and start my own farm. Only kidding, of course, sort of. Very glad I added this book to our library.

    This is a wonderful book!

What a blessing this book has been! This beautifully illustrated book has been such a blessing to my four year old. We bought it when she was three and she was completely captivated. The illustrations - beautiful paintings - held her attention while the simple stories delighted her and stimulated her imagination. The first story is the best one. It's about a Border Collie named Floss. The store we bought it at sold it side-by-side with a little border collie stuffed animal. She named it Floss, of course, and it became her very favorite toy. She takes it with her everywhere. My wife and I have told her hundreds, maybe thousands of 'Floss stories'. Every time we get in the car she says, 'Tell me a Floss story'. At bedtime she gets 2 or 3 Floss stories. She has drawn dozens of her own Floss stories - telling me what words to put with her crayon illustrations. We staple the 15 pages or so together to make our own little books and we read them over and over. Plus we re-read the original Floss book frequently. This book is excellent!
