This is such a romantic, meaningful film you have no control over your inner feelings. The love between Cole Porter and his lovely wife, Linda, is the love I felt for my husband, also. "I'm Yours 'til I die" are words that not only well up with tears in our eyes but fill our hearts to the end with the one we love.
Cole Porter was a brilliant, sensitive composer we will never see the likes of again. What a tribute to women in this film. Highly, highly recommended to anyone who is in love with the one they are with!

A few songs from the movie were not on the CD, but this is a great compilation of Cole Porter's music by some wonderful artists.

It is a great soundtrack that showcases the music of Cole Porter in an accurate and modern way. The sensibility of it all makes us realize how timeless Porter's music is. The only criticism is the lack of credit and completeness of Day and Night and of John Barrowman.

I will confess that the selling point was the duet with John Barrowman and Kevin Kline, but the entire album is a wonderful little gem overall. If you enjoy Cole Porter songs, it's a nice thing to add to your stack of CD's.

Who decided to leave out "What a Swell Party This Is" performed by Kevin Kline, Ashley Judd and cast at the beginning of the film? "Another Opening of Another Show" was another unfortunate omission. Either/both would have better enhanced the soundtrack than the hokey "Be a Clown" or the lullaby-like "True Love." Sheryl Crow is taking way too much heat for her treatment of a difficult number, difficult in that most listeners need to consult a dictionary to figure out the title lyric. The cameo clinker really belongs to Elvis Costello, who doesn't have the pipes for "Let's Misbehave." Or was he trying to conjure up Bob Dylan?

I enjoyed all the arrangements and stars in the movie. I didn't like Sheryl Corw's performance as much as I would've liked to, but that's ok. The surprise favorite was Lemar in his short scene - an amazingly fresh, passionate performance!

I loved the movie & this cd, but the sheryl crow Begin the Beguine is so tuneless that it betrays the compositional genius that Porter is known for. She seems to take the song in some "major" key, and all the nuances of the minor key changes and accidentals are lost. Those tune elements are the very soul of the mystery of this song and the arch of its emotion. I just don't understand why the producers allowed this version to be included in the movie or the CD.

I grew up listening to Cole Porter's music on our piano, and I love this CD of new artist interpretations. I especially enjoy Sheryl Crow's smooth and mournful "Begin the Beguine" and Alanis Morissette's witty and lively "Let's Do It." If you love musicals and American standards, you'll be humming to this CD for days on end.

A couple of the reviews criticize Sheryl Crow's version of "Begin the Beguine". I stronly disagree. Those comments focus on the fact that the arrangement is different then some older versions. This misses the point. In fact, all of the songs in the movie illustrate aspects of the story. I do not believe that we should be treated to a PC version of Cole Porter's music. One thing that is clear from this CD is how the lyrics have many-faceted meanings. One needs to view the extras on the movie DVD to understand why the songs were interpreted as they were. I have heard "Begin the Beguine" for decades, yet I never knew what a "beguine" was. When I saw the Crow version in the film, I decided to find out what it meant. Simply, it is a sensuous dance that originated in the West Indies. In the context of the movie, and its portrayal of Porter, Crow's performance is right on target. This album needs to be appreciated in the proper, full context, and one will understand its great value.

Did Sheryl Crow ever listen to "Begin the Beguine" before she recorded her version? The original melody has disappeared! But....loved all the other songs. A great sing along CD!!

God only knows what they were thinking with this arrangement of "Begin the Beguine"...massaging Sheryl Crow's ego, I suppose. At any rate, her rendition almost makes the song UNRECOGNIZABLE. What a shame. Incredibly bad. Otherwise, remainder of CD is good to great.

These are tracks of real original music !!! I jsut wanted to mentiones this album includes THE DUET OF THE BEST MALE AND FEMALE SINGERS EVER , LARA FABIAN AND MARIO FRANGOULIS. So just wanted to mention to correct the performers of the song "SoIn Love" is LARA FABIAN and Mario Frangoulis , not Mario as a solo. So please I want this to be corrected in the tracklisting above in this page.
