CriticasPreS-K-In this informative story, a young girl walks through various biomes (the jungle, the sea, the mountains, the river, the desert, the North Pole) and encounters many native animals. At the end, she throws a party for the creatures she's met. Harter's illustrations in bright hues of green, yellow, red, and blue depict the coolness or warmth of the places the girl visits. This book can be used to introduce young children to science and geography, and the repetitive refrain allows them to participate in the reading. The accompanying CD makes a perfect match for the text, and the animal voices will encourage children to sing and repeat the phrases. This title is reminiscent of Bill Martin Jr.'s Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See? (Oso pardo, oso pardo, que ves ahi, Henry Holt, 2002) and is highly recommended for all children's collections.
