I started with this series at the first of the year and have now finished #5. These things are addictive. I'm not sure which is most interesting. . . the mystery, the engaging characters or Alaska. Slight, but well written, The Kate Shugak series is quite engaging.

Once again I very much enjoyed Dana Stabnow's book. Her storyline moves quickly and kept my interest. I will continue to read her books.

this was a little difficult getting into, esp. if you do not know a lot about fishing salmon, but it was worth it. I'm such a fan of dana stabenow that I know the book will keep me interested to read it in a day. I always love the tension between Kate and her grandmother, or one of her men-friends. Mutt is wonderful as always. Recommended Kate Shugak--if you read one, you have to read them all.

Overview
Two crewmen of the crab vessel Avilda are missing—presumed dead—under very suspicious circumstances. The Bering Sea offers ample means and opportunity, but without bodies, a motive, or evidence of foul play, the DA doesn’t have a case. And so, freelance investigator Kate Shugak finds herself working undercover in one of Alaska’s most dangerous professions: crab fisherman. The assignment will take her from the debauchery of Dutch Harbor to the most isolated of the Aleutians, and if the job itself doesn’t kill her, her crewmates just might.Third in Stabenow’s Edgar Award-winning series of Alaskan mysteries, Dead in the Water is richly informed by the ...
