I could not believe that a book with so many grammatical, spelling and editing errors would be offered for sale! It is horrendous! It was a cheap book, but I still paid good money for it. This book gives ebooks a very bad name!

How strange this is. All the complaints about grammar and editing. ? ..... The characters in this book are not Harvard graduates or even close. They talk like the real life character would talk. If you get into the story you expect those words and sentence structure from the characters .

The complete lack of editing overshadowed the plot line. I liked the author's concept of this book, but not the book, itself. Very poorly written. I will not be reading any more Smashwords books, as the four I recently read (by four different authors) were all rather lame stories, and all appeared not to have been edited at all.

Easy read.

Despite a large number of spelling and grammatical errors, I thought the story was petty good. There are some very clever turns of phrase and some amusing descriptions. All in all, not a bad read.

Story line is good and worth reading BUT proof reader must have been on vacation or perhaps did not know English ! Terrible, mistakes everywhere . Definately not worth paying for - if it's free, great!

I made less grammer mistakes in first grade. Doesn't anyone proofread anymore? Sometimes I did not even know what they meant to say. Really ruined the story. Typos etc.

sometimes felt like it was a '40's type detective story. would be kind of neat if nook would play a sound track, like being in a theater, lol. a nice read.better than a lot of crap on tv. i felt a good use of my time.

Loved this book. Reminded me of the old detective stories on TV. Simple and to the point. Would love to read more by this author.

It's the narrator's voice. Anyone with basic reading comprehension skills should grasp it. If you lack them, just imagine Matt Damon reading it in his "Good Will Hunting", heavy Boston accent. It's actually a really good read, so ignore the illiterate yahoos who comment about proofreading and editors. I suspect they aren't Rhodes scholars.

Recommended read. Like that it weaves the names of celebrities from the "Golden Era" throughout the story.

This was a great story and I'd like to read more about this character. It had everything I look forward to in a great mystery/crime book. This book was free and I just didn't notice the errors that everyone complained about.

Is the grammer really that bad? I want to read it. Someone give me an example of the grammer.

Who was the lead character? Had the feeling the story started without me. Other characters or names appeared without a description of who they were. Many added, missing, inappropriate, and mis-spelled words made reading even less than enjoyable. Can't recommend this one.

A hard-boiled narrator who would be played by Bogart in the movie.

Liked the gritty historical atmosphere of this book. It had a touch of Raymond Chandler!

It's a good book. More recommended for teens and above but otherwise it's fine. Some arts in the book go to much into police jobs and they work but besides that the book works fine- 5012

Story was good. Reminded me of those old film noir movies of long ago. As for the grammar nazis raising cain, that was how they talked. Not everyone spoke with proper english. It was written as they would have spoken which made the story more realistic. If you would stop being so anal retentive maybe you would understand that and enjoy a book.
