Editorial Reviews

Charles Harmon
Michaels' latest mystery successfully combines humor and intrigue, which is still an uncommon feat in the gay mystery subgenre, one that will delight readers at every turn of a page. We again meet hairstylist-detective Stan Kraychik and his lover Rafik (whom Michaels' fans will remember from "Love You to Death" if not "A Body to Dye For" [1991]). This time the (first) murder victim is the founder of Rafik's ballet company. While detecting, styling, and teasing, Stan must also put up with Rafik's artistic moods, ford off sexual advances from the benefactor of Rafik's ballet company, and see the very handsome detective Branco fall for Stan's boss, Nicole. Stan solves the mystery a la Hercule Poirot this time, summoning all suspects to the actual scene of the crime (where, of course, he provides appropriate food and beverage, just as any good gay man would).
