When Cassie Taylor talks, ghosts listen. She wants to heal their souls so they can leave earth. Brooding songwriter Luke Rivers wants to give his recently found daughter a normal home, but he discovers his new house in small town Wisconsin is haunted by a ghost with an attitude. His ghost whisperer has an attitude too—even before someone tries to kill her.

He wants conventional; she wants acceptance. No wonder she thinks men are hard and dead people are easy.

Editorial Reviews

Aimee Jessop
Edie Ramer has done it again. She as created such a wonderful new world that enthralls and entertains. This book is filled with laughter, heartbreak, mystery, cranky ghosts, and most importantly, love. The depth of which Ramer is able to put into her characters is fantastic. It doesn’t get much better than this.”

For Cattitude by Edie Ramer:

Cattitude is a surprising book that I can definitely recommend. It’s a refreshing read with an original, funny and suspenseful plot, complete with a host of witty and funny characters. It is a well written story that has you on the edge of your seat and rolling on the floor in front of it and maybe pinking a way a stray tear as well.
Sabrina Michaela
For Cattitude by Edie Ramer:

A cute and very entertaining story about a special kind of soul-exchange. At first I was a bit sceptical about the basic idea but it worked perfectly. Together with the interesting characters and the cute love story it made reading the book a lot of fun and when I finished the last sentence I had a smile on my face.

    An Absolute Must-Read

Edie Ramer once again proves that she is a force to be reckoned with. It's not easy to find a book that has it all: Love, Danger, Mystery, Romance, Sorrow, Happiness...I could go on and on, the point is that you can name any number of emotions or aspects that makes up a great book and Dead People has it! What really puts Edie Ramer in a different class, is how she is able to make a book that is unique and a true breathe of fresh air in a genre that is growing by the minute.

This book had me at Chapter One! This story has number of different story lines going on, all related and all surrounded by cloud of mystery until the reveal at the very end. Cassie Taylor talks to ghost and is a paid "ghost therapist" who is brought in when ghosts refuse to make their way to the other side. Use to ridicule, she distances herself from the living and takes refuge in the form of her dead best friend Joe. She is happy with her life and her profession, but all that changes the day she meets famous songwriter Luke Rivers. Luke has hot bad boy tattooed on his forehead, but those days are long gone since he now has custody of his 10 year old daughter Erin. Just finding out he has a daughter is rough, but realizing that you daughter has been living with a mother who is junkie is even harder. Erin wants her mom and blames herself for all of her mom's problems. Luke wants to be a good dad but knows nothing in how to raise a child, especially one who is so clearly hurting. She hates him, wants her mom and Luke is clueless on how to fix the situation. It is made even worse when he finds out his new house is haunted. He hires Cassie to get rid of the ghost, but he and Erin get much more than they bargained for when she steps into their life. Erin takes to Cassie, Luke wants Cassie, Cassie doesn't know what she wants, and one person wants to destroy their lives. The ghost was murdered and as they uncover the truth they realize that they are not just dealing with a ghost haunting, they are dealing with a murderer who is still out there and is willing to do anything to keep this murder a secret.

This book is an absolute must read! If you love romance, mystery, danger, drama, and laughter, then this is the book for you.

This is the first in a very promising series and I can't wait to see what happens next. Ramer is a must read!

    Unique Paranormal

If you are tired of the same old paranormal romance, look no further. Dead People is the perfect remedy to the Paranormal slump. Cassie is a tough, yet vulnerable heroine who helps ghosts move onto the other side. When she takes a job from Luke, a sexy songwriter, she expects it to be like all the others. She doesn't expect to fall in love with the man and his daughter. The only thing Luke wants from "the ghost whisperer," is for her to get rid of the ghost haunting his home and terrifying his daughter. Cassie isn't at all what he expected and he quickly finds himself falling for the woman. But getting rid of Luke's ghost is complicated and a realtionship with Luke, even more so, for someone wants Cassie and Luke apart and will do anything to see Cassie leave... even if it means resorting to murder. Author Edie Ramer does a wonderful job taking broken characters and making them loveable. The entire time I was reading this book I was rooting for Cassie and Luke. The sexual tension between the hero and heroine is steamy and real and the suspense will keep you turning the pages. This is one of those books I couldn't put down. Paranormal, romance and mystery combine in a perfectly fun read.

    more from this reviewer

    I Also Recommend:

Good Story about a Ghost Whisperer!

It was refreshing to find a bit more mellow (but interesting) paranormal book that had just enough developing, authentic, and interesting characters (both live and dead), and the right balance of emotion, relationship/sexual tension/intimacy and humor, within a 'who done it'-style intriguing plot. It grabbed my interest right at the beginning when I realized Cassie's friend and car passenger was a ghost! It was a good book for the price, whether stand alone, or if the author Edie Ramer continues with a series!

    Contrived, amateurish

This is a "romance" thinly veiled as a paranormal. In the first handful of pages there is reference to oral deeds - and it continues from there. The main character Cassie is obsessed with needing, wanting, thinking about sex. There is no romance. The paranormal is tucked in around all her repressed fantasies and references. In the first few chapters it was clear that scenes are contrived to but Cassie with the male musician. You can learn what not to do in writing from this book. Even for .99 I feel like asking for my money back.

    Good Read...

So it was only .99 I thought what the heck. Based on the sample I was not so impressed but thought it had potential. I was happy to see it was lengthy. I enjoyed the story overall but the big action scene/finale made me feel like I was watching a formulated soap opera. Yea a bit cheesy. But well worth .99 investment.
