Meet the Author

Amanda Ashley is one of those rare birds-a California native. She's lived in Southern California her whole life and, except for the earthquakes, loves it. She shares a home with her husband, as well as a fluffy Pomeranian named Teddi, a mischievous cat named Tigger, and a tortoise who remains nameless. Amanda and her alter ego, Madeline, have written 57 books. Not bad for someone who started writing just for the fun of it. Her books have made the New York Times List, the USA Today List, and the Waldenbooks Bestseller and Mass Market lists.

    A reviewer

The story was surprisingly long given how little there was to the plot. It was plodding, the plot was mundane and uninteresting. There was no climax. The subplot with the vampire hunter went nowhere and the characters were poorly fleshed out. Several hundred pages later and I have no idea who shanna is. what did she do for a living? why did she move to California? What's the nature of her illness? Given the setup, the outcome was predictable which of course put the burden on the author to make the inbetween interesting. She doesn't. Nothing of note happens between the beginning and the last few chapters. Certainly they are events but none of them matter to the outcome, and they have no effect on the characters. The effect is a cold story without fire or humanity.

    Vampire romance at its best!

Shannah Davis did not wish to die although it seemed inevitable. The doctors could not find a cure, resulting in 24 year old Shannah¿s failing health and impending death. In search of the one thing that could save her from death, what would she do once she found him? Pass out on his doorstep? After following her mysterious dark clothed stranger for almost 5 months, she tempted fate. If he truly was a vampire he would be able to make her immortal, but if he was just a regular man, she was doomed to die. If offered the Dark Gift, would her mortal heart accept? Ronan knew he was being followed by the girl, he just didn¿t expect to see her at this time of day. When Shannah fainted on his doorstep, he braved the sun to bring her inside. The droplets of blood from the fall were all too tempting when he tasted her, he tasted death. Ronan needed Shannah and it was obvious Shannah needed Ronan. He offered her a tempting deal, in which she accepted. Pretended to be his pseudonym as a romance author, go on tour and do book signings as it was hardly believable that a man could write such enticing stories. Shannah enjoyed the fame for a time, until the hunter showed up. Love finds Ronan after 513 years, but she is a mortal and dying. Shannah does not know the truth about Ronan, he never admitted to being a vampire, but does the heart care? When you go in search of something, make sure you¿re willing to accept the consequences. How will Shannah feel when Ronan makes a decision for the both of them that can possibly drive Shannah away? Will Ronan be able to live with his breaking heart? Amanda Ashley¿s vampire romance novel, Dead Perfect is compelling! Ms. Ashley has the thrall of a vampire on her side. I started reading Dead Perfect right before bed, and my very first thought when I awoke was, ¿I need to finish that book!¿ Amanda Ashley¿s vivid characters and fantastic storyline were remarkable! Ms. Ashley has been a favorite of mine for years, and never once has she let me down. Dead Perfect has just raised the bar on Vampire Romance. 5 Hearts

    Excellent vampire romance

She is dying and has little time left yet Shannah Dover has hope because of a man she has seen each night. Curious about him she starts to follow him and begins to believe he is a vampire. She follows him to his home and knocks on the door and when he opens it her hopes are dashed because the sun is still out. Ronan is a vampire but can stand the daylight a little and he sees the sickness in her and gives her some of his blood and makes her forget about it. He is a romance writer writing under a female pseudonym and has an agent who wants him to go on a book tour. He convinces Shannah to impersonate him and each time the illness threatens her, he gives her more time by having her drink his blood. Soon he is in love with the dying mortal but she no longer wants to be a vampire. The thought of losing her tears him apart however, he believes if he turns her without her consent she will hate him. --- Amanda Ashley is one of this reviewer¿s favorite vampire romance writers. Her Byronic vampires are filled with angst and have a gentleness about them that appeals to the mortals they love. Ronan is 513 years old and a power vampire who knows fear for the first time in centuries because he knows love and is afraid it will be taken from him. Shannah is a strong-willed brave woman who wants to love but accepts that unless a miracle occurs she is doomed. DEAD PERFECT is the perfect books for readers of the vampire romances. --- Harriet Klausner

    Shockly impressed.

Normally I do not like romance at all, but I really enjoyed this book. If you are looking for something out of your confort zone, I would pick this book up and as you will not be disappointed.

    I Also Recommend:

    It was pretty good...

I'm trying to figure out if I've completely lost my mind because I just finished this book in one sitting and thought it was pretty good. Reading the reviews I'm wondering if I just thought it was good because the last three books I've read were crap (Blue Bloods, Need and Raven). hmmmm...

Anyways, I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. Sure, there's not a lot of action, but don't most people read these types of books for the relationship and romance anways? It was a really sweet and emotional read. The author tended to repeat herself a couple of times, which probably would've been ok if I hadn't read it all at once, to serve as a reminder. It was good, though, I thought. If you've read my recommendations, maybe we have similar taste and you'll like this as well.

    Too sappy

This is the first novel by Ms. Ashley that I have read. I may be a bit biased as I read vampire books mostly from the horror and sci fi section, but I believe that this book was too far over in the sappy side. A lot of the plot was just too convenient and predictable for me. From the start of the book, you know what's going to happen. The romance as well as the outcome of the suspenceful climax is all predictable (for people who have read tons of vampire and or romance novels). Well I guess that's what I get for picking up a vampire book from the romance section :) Long story short, it was just ok for me.

    Good But Not Great

Amanda Ashley is a wonderful author, her books stand alone in the vampire romance world. This book for me was not her best but as a fan and dedicated reader I stay true to one of my favorite authors. Anything written by her is worth reading. When people are reviewing books I wish they would give their oppinons instead of recapping the book itself, this does not help another reader to decide to read this book or not.

    Dead Boring!!

It stated in the back of the book that Ms. Ashley and her alter ego Madeline have written 57 books. Unfortunately in all those books she has not found another word for preternatural! She uses it constantly. It is annoying! Dull story! No chemisrty!

    not what i expected

this was a first for me and will surely be my last. no sparks no romance, no real depth to any characters, this book was more about what a terrific author SHE thinks she is. i will never waste another penny on any book by this author again.
