Bryn Halbrook had always seen the glow on the people around her. And she knows all too well what psychiatrists do to people who claim impossible powers. She's always stayed below the radar, but when she discovers the meaning of the beautiful auras, she's not sure why she was cursed with the ability to see the soon-to-be-dead and be unable to do anything about it.
But Bryn is on the brink of the unbelievable truth - she is a creature from myth. Valkyrie- a warrior maiden of the God Odin. And a Collector of Souls.

Aidan Lee just can't do what he's told. Visiting Craven was not supposed to be a time to fall in love. He's just helpless when faced with the beautiful Brynhildr, but there is more to the biker dude that either Bryn or Aidan himself knows.

Can their fledgling love survive the secrets and intrigue, the reality of Odin's realm of Asgard, the pressures of being a warrior of the gods,

But Bryn lucks out when the Trickster god Loki sets his sights on her. Can Bryn hold her own against the charmingly manipulative god long enough to discover what Loki is really planning?
Dead Radiance is a fantasy filled with passion and intrigue, betrayal and broken hearts, that will keep you turning the page.

Meet the Author

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each other's loves – it works wonderfully…

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.

A review copy was provided for an honest review. Dead Radiance is really fun, it has great mythology in it and is a must read for anyone who loves mythical stories. Having watched Thor and the Avengers I had the vaguest insight into Norse mythology but this book weaves in some interesting facts and tells a highly enjoyable tale of Valkyries focusing on one in particular. I spent two days with this book glued to my hands - I was utterly engrossed. I'm a huge Greek mythology fan but T.G. Ayer made me want to read more about Nordic myths and its gods & creatures as they are absolutely just as fascinating as Greek folklore if not moreso.

Bryn Halbrook has never been normal because she can see strange glows emanating from people - which she has ignored all her life--until her best and only friend Josh starts to illuminate with light. It's only shortly after that she discovers what the bright radiance means--death. Josh dies and she's left alone at the mercy of an unforgiving town who blames her for his passing. What makes things worse is she is a foster child branded as an outsider from the very beginning therefore isolating her even further. But that all changes when seemingly out of nowhere Aidan shows up as her new foster brother taken in by her foster mother Ms. Custer. Aidan is older, attractive, smart, and a bit of a rebel and they find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other--until someone very close to her starts to glow. Fearing Aidan won't believe her or that he'll think she's crazy Bryn doesn't know who she can tell and time is running out. Bryn has secrets she didn't even know she was keeping until she's tossed into the middle of an unbelievable world and a whole new existence. There might yet be hope for her to fit into the world--even if it isn't the one she's always known. Bryn must learn who and what she is to prepare for what's yet to come. She finds herself on a new journey in life--one of great importance filled with an even greater danger.

This was such an enjoyable and easy read that had all sorts of surprising elements integrated within it. I really admired Bryn as the main heroine because she starts out as this frightened young adult who ends up becoming this brave and strong warrior. I found each character in Dead Radiance to be very likeable in there own unique way (especially Sigrun) and I'm so glad T.G. Ayer decided to focus on lesser known mythological beings because Valkyries are absolutely amazing. I don't want to spoil the Valkyrie myth so you have to read the book to find out more it's astonishingly interesting!

Dead Radiance is really entertaining and the writing is well done. I was intrigued from the very start! Archaeologists uncover the remains of what they believe to be a Valkyrie and that's where everything begins unraveling at such a fantastic pace. There are however some small things I found to be a little disappointing such as limited character depth, the lack of romance, and Bryn's snarky and fun attitude she has at the start of Dead Radiance that is almost non-existent after that. BUT the creativity and the plot make up for its minor flaws. I'm very much looking forward to reading the sequel Dead Embers (A Valkyrie Novel - Book 2). Dead Radiance is a different and highly compelling read and one that can thoroughly be enjoyed. It's loaded with action, adventure, drama, mythology, and romance. Mythology lovers rejoice because this novel needs to make it into your collection! It's a great YA read that shows lesser known Norse mythology in all of its glory.

I laughed, I cried, I wanted to reach in and slap people, I wanted to hug poor Bryn and bring her home (my response to all injured kiddos). This book has it all including some fabulous romance and a little green eyes monster.

A wonderful weaving of modern day and ancient Norse mythology, this story is charming. It is definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys Norse mythology, but also is just a good overall read. I learned a lot about the Norse myths that I didn’t know (or at least what this author included as being part of Norse mythology). I am quite versed in Greek mythology, but not as much with Norse mythology. This was a fun way to learn more.

I highly recommend this book. I give it 4 out of 5 clouds. A good read!

Not as good as i hoped

I am surprised there are so many great reviews for this book. While i did read the whole book i found it to be slow, and predictable. I am glad it was free. I will not continue with this series.

I was drawn to this book because it is a departure from the typical paranormal beings that fill the pages of many young adult novels. The characters of this novel come from ancient Norse mythology and include the god Odin, the goddess Freya, and the legend of the Valkyrie. While the story held great promise, it just did not deliver. It is predictable, slow, and really did not illicit any emotion from me.

The characters may have been different than the typical paranormal romance, but the conventions and conflicts that move the story along are the same as any other. The main character, Bryn, is the typical loner. Her only friend has died before the novel even begins. Because she is a foster child, she moves around a lot. As a result, she insulates herself and does not try to make friends. It is not long before Aiden makes his appearance as another foster child in the same home. And of course, there is an immediate attraction which Bryn struggles uselessly to tamp down. Despite their mutual desire, circumstances cause a rift and before long, they are separated and Bryn feels hurt and betrayed. Quite predictably, the two are thrown together once again to complete a quest for the goddess, Freya.

Parts of the book moved too slowly for me. After Aiden leaves and Bryn begins learning about the Valkyrie, I found it kind of dull. Even after she gets to Asgard and gets her wings, I still found it slow-moving and uneventful, although I did like some of the characters that were introduced, such as Sigrun and Fenrir. I had a hard time understanding the whole training of the warriors so that half could go to Freya to battle against Odin. I still don’t really understand it. And even when Aiden and Bryn team up to find the pendants, the story was just so-so. There was no palpable tension or attraction between Aiden and Bryn and no real action for the first three days of their journey. Things never really got interesting or intense enough to put me on the edge of my seat. Even the battle scenes lacked excitement.

All in all, the story just fell flat for me. I did not feel compelled to read it, and I was not invested in any of the characters. I did enjoy some of the characters, however, and it made me curious about the myth of Odin and the Valkyrie. So it certainly had enough elements to keep my reading, but I would not herald it as a must read for anyone.

I read this book after it was recommended to me by a friend.  And I fell in love with it.  Tee writes a damned good yarn!

Bryn is an orphan, and living in a foster home.  But she has a strange ability.  She knows when people are going to die.  When she meets Aidan, who moves into the foster home, she finally thinks that live is going to improve.  But it doesn't.  It gets worse.  Much worse.
Aidan's father wants her for her DNA, because Bryn is special.  And when her live is at risk the most, she is taken to Kahalla and told that she is a Valkyrie, a Norse Angel and her job is to claim the souls to bring back to become warriors.
If you like reading mythological stories, you will love this one.

    Intense Read

Very nice setting with the Norse Mythology. Something original for a change. Didn't want to put the book down as it was very fast paced and intense at times. You actually cared about the characters.
Looking forward to reading BOOK 2.
