The dead have risen and the citizens of St. Petersburg and Pinellas Park are trapped. The survivors are scattered, and options are few. And not all monsters are created by a bite. Some still have a mind of their own...

"A fast paced page turner. Believable, likable characters going through the incredible situations inherent in zombie fiction. Their stories are engaging and suspenseful. If you're a fan of the genre, this is a fine addition." --Kim Paffenroth, author of DYING TO LIVE

"A really strong zombie novel... Great stuff." --Patrick D'Orazio, author of COMES THE DARK

"A fast-paced and claustrophobic account of a Florida peninsula under siege by the walking dead." --David Dunwoody, author of EMPIRE

Good story. It has alot of people to follow. Kinda confusing at times. But still good to read.

    Meh

Lots of characters, but not a lot of character development.

    Not bad

The book is well written and a great length. My only issue is that there was a decided lack of character development due to the chapters being so short. I would have liked a lot less jumping around but definately has potential

I had been eagerly awaiting the re-issue of this book and I am happy to say that it was definitely worth the wait. It grabbed my attention immediately and I hated to put it down. I loved the way that the author handled so many characters. I had read reviews of the earlier release so I was prepared for the chapters being short and each one featuring updates on where a particular character was in his/her story. I actually liked this but I can see how it might throw off the reader that wasn't prepared for it. It would have been easier for me if I'd had the time available to spend a day reading it straight through, rather than having to come back to it each evening for my couple of hours of reading treat before bedtime, so that I didn't have to refamiliarize myself with the characters, but the story was so good it didn't take long to jump back into the thick of things. The author fleshed out the characters nicely and really made me love some while detesting others, and one in particular I thought I wasn't going to like but then he turned it around for me. There were a couple of places I felt the author rushed to the conclusion of a character's story just a bit, but it was not anything huge or glaring, just a mild feeling I got about it. I am so looking forward to Dead Tide Rising next and I hope very soon!
