A romanticist at heart, with a deductive mind, I am a graduate engineer who traveled the world keeping commercial jet engines flying safely. I thought I loved my first career until I found my second, writing.
For decades, I traveled abroad. At the time I was performing my job. In retrospect, I was collecting data; sights, smells, emotions, experiences, and stories for my second career.
Over the past ten years, I've belonged to two writing groups. I've given presentations on editing at writing conferences. I've had a writing critique partner for the past eight years.
I've written ten novels, with several more in seed.
I live with my wife, Linda, and dog, Bentley, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

I always wanted to win the lottery, now I am not so sure. Some people will do anything for money. Then there are people that will lie, cheat, steal, and kill for a lot of money. Once the bodies started piling up the web of lies got bigger and bigger. No one involved was safe, not even non-winners that were working on the case. The truth wants to stay hidden. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

    Excellent

Dead Winners is an excellent book that is set in South Carolina. I enjoyed reading this, and I'm not big into Mystery Books. I look forward to reading more from this author!

the Lottery-Safe Bet or Deadly Wager?

How often have you purchased a lottery ticket when the stakes are a mega-highs? You, hold your ticket in sweaty palms because you’re feeling lucky, and then, for some strange reason, your numbers don’t match? Naturally, you think there MUST be a way to pick those magic numbers. Dead Winners by Dave McDonald unveils THE ANSWER to WINNING BIG, of course, it isn’t legal, and is deadly as heck for the winners. High ranking government officials and their cronies are rigging the results of South Carolina’s Mega-Lottery and are making out like bandits. Enter newly appointed Vice Chairman of the South Carolina Lottery Commission and war hero, Brent Layne, the perfect patsy, or so they thought! Dazzled by a beautiful Governor, Brent is thrust into a world of deceit, treachery, schemes and death as he attempts to unravel the mystery of who is behind this lottery fiasco and who is benefiting from it. Who can he trust as people are dying all around him, the governor? His girlfriend? It’s likely he could be the next victim, relying on his soldier’s background and dumb luck will only keep him safe for a while.

Mystery, intrigue and a completely human and self-deprecating hero pulled me in, had me shaking my head, raising my eyebrows and ducking bullets, all the while wishing I could remember those winning numbers on that little scrap of paper! Dave McDonald can weave a tale into a fast-paced, thriller as he allows Brent to tell the story as it happens from his point of view. I loved how Brent actually thought exactly what I was thinking, and did it honestly, with a touch of humor sometimes. There are crooked politicians, (okay, not a shock, right?), there are car chase scenes, scenes where Brent is obviously not thinking with the correct brain, (at least he admits it), and a never-ending maze of questions that make figuring this mystery out a complete challenge! Each scene is vividly described without getting too wordy, never overpowering or taking away from the plot.

Looking for a good thriller/mystery where the hero is just a regular guy with a knack for getting into and out of trouble? Do you like wondering who can be trusted and when? I highly recommend Dead Winners! Trust me, you’ll think of this book the next time you buy that "winning" lottery ticket!

I received an ARC edition from Dave McDonald in exchange for my honest review! This is a fantastic read!
