Deadly Animals!

Deadly Animals!

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 2-4-- Murky, dark, ominous illustrations accompany the mean-spirited text of this so-called ``introduction to nature's fascinating animals.'' A sampling of animal and fish are portrayed as random killers. The tiger is depicted as a ``killing machine'' and a hippo as cutting a man in half in one angry bite. The simplistic text does little to describe the complex food chain and natural selection in the feeding patterns of all carnivores. Children should be exposed to books depicting the wonder of wildlife and the beauty of the animal world--not to sensational stereotyping. Skip this one in favor of the many excellent, environmentally conscious works available. --Eva Elisabeth Von Ancken, Trinity Pawling School, NY
