Meet the Author

Janine Burke is the award-winning author of fifteen books of art history, biography, and fiction. She has put togeter art exhibitions, written for newspapers and journals, and acted as a consultant for films and documentaries.

Shaun Tan was born in 1974 and grew up in Australia. As a teenager, Shaun began drawing and painting images for science fiction and horror stories in small press magazines. Since then, he has received numerous awards for his picture books. He has recently worked for Blue Sky Studios and Pixar, providing concept artwork for forthcoming films. His book The Arrival was one of the best-reviewed books of 2007.

My daughter is 11-years-old and loves ghost stories. She actually read a copy of this book from her school library and loved it so much she asked me to get it for her birthday. It is an easy read but also leaves a lasting impression. Perfect for kids who love to be scared!
