Overview

When you’ve been accused of kidnapping an emperor, and every enforcer in the city wants your head, it’s hard to prove yourself an honorable person and even harder to earn an imperial pardon.

That doesn’t keep Amaranthe Lokdon and her team of outlaws from trying. When athletes start disappearing from the Imperial Games, they may finally have an opportunity to show the emperor that they’re on his side. If she and her comrades can get to the bottom of such a public mystery, they’re sure to get the credit.

But plans go awry when Amaranthe’s own men start plotting against each other, the new ally she’d hoped to acquire tries to turn her in, and her best fighter—and closest friend—disappears.

Maybe getting involved wasn’t such a good idea after all…

Deadly Games is approximately 110,000 words (400 paperback pages). It is the third book in The Emperor’s Edge Series.

Fantastic read, just like the others

I love Amaranthe and Sicarius. I love the other characters, Maldynado, Books, Akstyr and Basilard. Wonderful writing, refreshing storyline. I love how Buroker moves the storyline forward and how the characters complement each other. I usually dislike series books, I prefer to read a story and be done. But I can't get enough of these characters. Excellent writing. Another winner.

Everything else to the back of the line....

Buroker's works will push anything in your "to be read" file to the bottom of the list. MC

    Well......

Interesting characters...intriquing story...very little plot development. Just finished book five and very little is resolved even then. If you like random adventures not burdened by believability or deep plots then you might just love this series. I am bored and frustrated and have marked this author as one to avoid.....how can there be five books with no closure? Extremely irritating.........

    Love, love, love it!

I can't get enough of these characters. This author sure can spin a story. I have yet to find a slow spot, or good area where I can put the book down. Last night, while out for dinner and a movie with my husband, I found myself wanting to hurry back home to finish the last 300 pages of this book. I've never had that happen, so I guess I'm hooked!

    Third time's a charm

I read this book in a day, well really it was from 11pm to 4am, I could stop. The more I get to know these characters the more I want to know. I am a big reader of fantasy & this series hits all my favorite aspects. A strong leader who has heart, secondary characters who I enjoy almost as well as the main ones, witty dialogue, mystery, possible romance without it being sappy or in your face. It's all here for me.
Each book focuses on one of the characters more than another. This book told more of Basilard's story. What a journey this man takes.

This is the third in a series so if you've not read Emperor's Edge (#1) or Dark Currents (#2) please start there or you will be lost.

I hope the 4th in the series comes out soon. I can hardly wait!

    Favorite in the series

I really enjoy Lindsay's stories and characters. The more I know Amaranthe, the more I love Amaranthe. A couple of the plot points allowed for the team to breathe and grow and stand on their own. I also liked that by the end more connections to other people were made for Sicarius, but I won't elaborate. These are great fun escapist fantasy adventures. I'm excited for the next installment. I just need to investigate to find out who the secondary PoV will be this time around.
