Overview

When you've been accused of kidnapping an emperor, and every enforcer in the city wants your head, it's hard to prove yourself an honorable person and even harder to earn an imperial pardon.

That doesn't keep Amaranthe Lokdon and her team of outlaws from trying. When athletes start disappearing from the Imperial Games, they may finally have an opportunity to show the emperor that they're on his side. If she and her comrades can get to the bottom of such a public mystery, they're sure to get the credit.

But plans go awry when Amaranthe's own men start plotting against each other, the new ally she'd hoped to acquire tries to turn her in, and her best fighter-and closest friend-disappears.

Maybe getting involved wasn't such a good idea after all...

Meet the Author

I've been writing fantasy novels and short stories since I was seven. I've been finishing them since... well, that's a more recent development.

I'm a professional blogger for my day job, and I live in the Seattle area. I have two vizslas who are as spoiled as most people's kids. Occasionally they let me leave the house to play tennis, go to the coffee shop, or take a yoga class.

I love Amaranthe and Sicarius. I love the other characters, Maldynado, Books, Akstyr and Basilard. Wonderful writing, refreshing storyline. I love how Buroker moves the storyline forward and how the characters complement each other. I usually dislike series books, I prefer to read a story and be done. But I can't get enough of these characters. Excellent writing. Another winner.

This book had 271 pages on my Nook. Deadly Games is book three of six. While mystery is definitely my favored genre and that has included some syfy, steam punk was new to me. I was unsure about the series but for $0.99 the journey began. I'm a voracious reader over 50 and was pleasantly surprised by Amaranthe and her crew! The characters are fleshed out enough to fall under their spell and their escapades bring cohesiveness to the group. You can't help but root for them! Lindsey Buroker has quite the imagination. Cant wait to read more in this series and sample her other books.

I can't get enough of these characters. This author sure can spin a story. I have yet to find a slow spot, or good area where I can put the book down. Last night, while out for dinner and a movie with my husband, I found myself wanting to hurry back home to finish the last 300 pages of this book. I've never had that happen, so I guess I'm hooked!

I couldn't put this book down. It had action at every turn and comedy, especially in the final scenes. A little romance if you like that sort of thing. Can't wait to read the next novel in the series.

This was a really great book! Fast paced with humorous dialogue. I've read the first two books and have already purchased the 4th.
