Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Social worker Alison Taylor is used to dealing with violent people, but she is unprepared for a stalker and turns to her police-detective brother, Cole, and his new partner, Mitch Morgan, for help. Mitch, a former Navy Seal, takes a personal interest in Allison's case, and Alison feels a similar attraction to him. VERDICT Hannon is a popular, RITA Award-winning author of inspirational romantic suspense; her series debut, Fatal Judgment, was a best seller on both the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) and the Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) lists. The strong character development and suspenseful story line here will win over readers of Lynette Eason, Dee Henderson, and Terri Blackstock.

Great Suspense with a little Romance

    Deadly Pursuit by Irene Hannon
Being a social worker, Alison Taylor encounters some sticky situations and questionable people, so when usually things started showing up on her doorstep she wasn't sure what to think or what was going on. No to worry though because she has 2 brothers and an ex-Navy SEAL to look out for her, and they will do whatever it takes to protect her.
I didn't read the first book in this series, so I don't know what I missed there, but I did enjoy this second one very much. I liked the fact that Alison's brothers we so protective of her, even though it was annoying to her, though I could see her point because she was so independent. The author gives us a wonderful cast of characters that are believable and loveable and weaves a story that is full of fast pace suspense and action, and adds a little romance as well. The plot is well developed and captures the readers interest until the last page.
If you like suspense, then this is a great read for you, so grab you a copy and cup of java and start reading. You are in for a wonderful suspenseful journey.

Romantic Suspense At It's Inspirational BEST!

AWESOMENESS! Totally AWESOMENESS! Yep. Irene Hannon has done it again. She has created a novel that is suspenseful, funny, inspiring, and just plain AWESOME! True to the description, this novel is Irene Hannon's writing at it's VERY best.

Picking up where Fatal Judgement left, Irene brings us a look into Alison's life. She is still getting over her accident from a year before. She's left physically challenged, and of course, emotional issues are a big part of her life, after her fiance left her. That is, until she meets her brother Cole's new partner, ex-Navy Seal, Mitch Morgan. Cole sets them up on a date to Mitch's relative's wedding, and it's instant attraction for them both. But, both aren't looking for a relationship. God has other plans in store for them. Or, so they think.

After becoming friends and going on a date or two, things take a turn when someone starts prank calling Alison, and leaving prank gifts for her. Someone is out to pursue her in the deadliest way. Now, Mitch(and Alison's overprotective big brothers!) can't help but be a part of Alison's life, as he's on the hunt for the prankster and to protect her. But, will his efforts, and his growing attraction, be enough to save her from this deadliest pursuit?

DEFINITELY worth the read! Irene Hannon has what it takes to write 5 Book quality novels, mix them up with page-turning plots, edge of your seat action, heart-pounding suspense, and God-centered romances. If you like a novel that will get your blood pumping, your heart racing, your mind thinking, then don't hesitate for a minute to grab a copy of this newest novel from Irene Hannon. While it's easily read as a stand alone, I highly suggest reading it after you read Fatal Judgement. You'll be an Irene Hannon fan for LIFE! I can't wait to read Cole's story next!

    Deadly Pursuit

Irene Hannon once again thrills fans with her latest installment in the Guardian's of Justice series. Deadly Pursuit is a suspense novel that will have readers spellbound and on the edge of their seats. Hannon takes on a stalker in her latest book and shows readers just how dangerous obsession can be. With more twists and turns than a maze, a fast-paced plot, and multi-dimensional characters, this is one romantic suspense novel you won't want to miss! Irene Hannon is a novelist with a knack for well written plots and Deadly Pursuit is no exception to the rule. It is taut and riveting and will have readers biting their nails even from the first chapter. Readers met Alison Taylor and her brothers Jake and Cole in the first book in the series, Fatal Judgment. In Deadly Pursuit the focus shifts to Alison as the main character. Fans of Hannon's writing know that she can ramp up a plot at a moments notice and this book certainly goes on the offensive at just the right time. I know a book is a really suspense driven when I find myself holding my breath as I get close to the end of a particularly good chapter and Hannon's book always do that to me. She is a master of suspense! Her characters are always very complex and multi-dimensional. Readers will enjoy pealing back the layers on her characters and finding out what is truly at the center of who they are. Alison is one of those women who are career and goal driven. It's obvious that she really cares about what she's doing and the kids that she comes into contact with. She knows the system isn't perfect but she tries to make a difference in every life she touches. Very admirable, but when you look a little further into her you see her motivations even more clearly. A tragic accident has taken away her ability to have children of her own and that makes her work all the more satisfying. Mitch is also a great character, an ex-Navy SEAL, he's seen the worst of what life can through at you on a daily basis. He is a man of steel, but he still has a heart of gold. Readers will find the contrast of hard and soft within him endearing and full of possibility. I think Hannon has created a perfect pair for this suspenseful book. Though romance may not be the main focus, it certainly adds to the overall draw of the book. One of the things that I always appreciate about Hannon is her worldview. She doesn't have to include racy sex scenes or vulgar language or even blood and gore to pull of a well-crafted, suspenseful book. I don't necessarily think she started out to write Christian Romantic Suspense. I think she wanted to write clean, family-friendly books that sort of just fell into that category. She doesn't push an agenda or make the reader feel like they are lacking because they may not be affiliated with a church or religious group. Her writing isn't preachy or fabricated. It flows easily and any references to beliefs or ideas seem natural and unforced. I like the fact that she appeals to readers on a human level, not a religious one.

    Thrilling Plot...

I've read 4 books by Irene Hannon (5 counting 'Deadly Pursuit') and I've enjoyed each one! Before I even started 'Deadly Pursuit', I fully expected to love it and I did! I love how Irene writes suspense novels that keep me at the "edge-of-my-seat" without gratuitous violence or vulgar language. How she weaves romance in the story that doesn't involve explicit love scenes or things similar in nature. 'Deadly Pursuit' may be my favorite book so far that I've read by Irene. It is filled with interesting characters, a thrilling plot, and of course a love story. We first met Alison Taylor in 'Fatal Judgment' and I've liked her character ever since. In 'Deadly Pursuit', though, we meet ex-Navy SEAL Mitch Morgan. I found myself really liking his character. He seems like a nice guy with a compassionate heart. One thing he did that I found nice is he moved back home to care for his father who just had bypass surgery. Alison has so much heartache and sadness. She was in a horrible car accident that left her in critical condition and now years later she is mostly healed - except she can never have children because she had to have a hysterectomy. Someone is stalking her and leaving morbid gifts - dead flowers with a bingo card that has one number checked off. Then something very cruel happens - I'm not going to say what because that will wreck an aspect of the story - and the perpetrator leaves another bingo card, this time with two numbers checked off. As you can guess, the story continues with the stalker getting closer to bingo. But what will happen to Alison when he finally reaches bingo? How far is he willing to go? I loved this story - it was very thrilling and suspenseful. I think anyone who enjoys reading suspenseful stories will enjoy 'Deadly Pursuit'. And even though the culprits identity was known throughout, there was still alot of mystery as to what he would do next. I loved how we still got to see Alison's brothers and how their stories progressed since 'Fatal Judgment'. I would have liked to have seen Mark Sanders again, but sadly he wasn't in 'Deadly Pursuit'- maybe he'll be in Irene Hannon's next book (I'm hoping). I definitely recommend 'Deadly Pursuit' and I look forward to Irene Hannon's next Romantic Suspense novel. .I received 'Deadly Pursuit' from Revell Publishing as a part of their blog tour. I was not required to give a positive review, just my honest opinion on the book which I've done.. Suspensful Thriller

I was very pleased with this book. The reader knows who the culprit is through most of the book, but the writing is very clear and descriptive and keeps the reader turning the pages. There are a few fairly graphic parts, but nothing too over the top. There was one scene in particular that almost had me tearing up because it was so sad, and the writing of that scene and the ones following really have you rooting for the good guys. A very good faith inspired suspense novel with a little bit of romance tucked in. I would recommend.

    My highest recommendation!

I have high expectations for books that I read, and Irene Hannon once again does not disappoint. As with all of her books that I've read, Deadly Pursuit kept me turning the pages until I finished the last page. My only regret was that it didn't keep going.
Allison and Mitch are wonderful characters, and I love her brothers Cole and Jake who will do anything to protect her; though incidentally Mitch has to pass under their scrutiny when Allison becomes more than a "one-night date". The characters come to life and stay with you long after you close the back cover. Mitch and Allison get roped into a blind date together, coordinated by Allison's well meaning brother Cole, and the first thing that comes to mind with Mitch when Allison opens her door is, 'Drop dead Gorgeous'. From there Allison and Mitch's relationship builds. For those of you who are romantic suspense lovers (like me), love Irene Hannon, or Dee Henderson romantic suspense- I HIGHLY recommend Deadly Pursuit.

SUSPENSEFUL STORYTELLING YOU CAN'T PUT DOWN!

I couldn't wait to get this book since I had read (and reviewed) Fatal Judgment, the first book in the Guardians of Justice series. That one was a great read and I was looking for the same action-packed and intense story line. I certainly was not disappointed! Starting with the first chapter of Deadly Pursuit, I was hooked. Although this is a continuation in the Guardians of Justice series, it can also be read as a stand-alone book. Ms. Hannon gives enough background to entice the new reader but doesn't become overly repetitive to the reader from Fatal Judgment. After the background on the characters, you're pulled right into the storyline. I like how Hannon gave us details about the bad guys-for most of us, it's an unknown way of life. Many addicts blame the bad things in their lives on someone else instead of taking accountability. Seeing how their minds work was illuminating. I loved how Hannon got into their heads and actions to explain the "why" behind what they do. On the flip side, the Taylor clan is the antithesis of the "villains". Hardworking, compassionate, and faithful (for the most part) make an interesting contrast to the bad guys. Although this is a Christian novel, it's not "preachy". It's moving how each character trusts God to intervene and lead them in the right direction, even if they don't know what direction that is. To me, that's true faith and that's one of the reasons I enjoy Ms. Hannon's books. One thing that did disturb me was a couple of the graphic situations---I won't spoil the story but if you are squeamish, beware! That's about the only negative I have on Deadly Pursuit---it's definitely a book you can't put down, especially the last few chapters. Grab one for yourself-you won't be sorry! Overall, I give Deadly Pursuit 4 stars. Thank you Ms Hannon! I look forward to the next installment! Suspenseful Page Turner

    Deadly Pursuit
    Irene Hannon

Social Worker Alison Taylor has protected children for years, putting perpetrators behind bars. Her over-protective brothers, both in law enforcement spend much of their time making sure Alison is safe and happy, including her dating life. Brother Cole hooks her up with a new co-worker Mitch under the guise of her helping him in a sticky situation. Who would have known that they would hit it off right away? And little did Mitch know he would be pulled into a case involving a stalker scaring Alison.

Threatening notes, dead flowers and bingo cards begin haunting Alison as her brothers and Mitch try to find out who is behind it. For once she doesn't mind all their protection. Suspenseful and page turning I read the book in one evening, not being able to put it down! I was concerned that it was in a series and I hadn't read the first one. Deadly Pursuit totally stood alone and it was not an issue at all to not have read the first one, though now it is on my "To Read" list. Irene Hannon is a new author to me, that I am excited to read more from!!

I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for an honest review.

A Deadly Mix to keep you reading

    About the Book: (Back Cover)
Social Worker Alison Taylor has a passion for protecting children. But now it seems she needs protecting. When her tormentor's attentions take a violent turn, she calls in reinforcements - her police-detective brother, Cole, and his new partner, ex-Navy SEAL Mitch Morgan. As her relentless stalker turns up the heat and the danger intensifies, Mitch takes a personal interest in the case. Because protecting Alison has become more than a job; his future depends on keeping her safe.

Filled with nail-biting suspense and heart-melting romance, Deadly Pursuit is Irene Hannon's storytelling at its very best.

    My Thoughts:
This is the 2nd book in the Guardians of Justice series. Fatal Judgment was the first book in this series, I enjoyed the first book and jumped at the chance to review Deadly Pursuit and was not disappointed. Full of riveting suspense this book kept me on my toes and aching to tell Alison who the 'bad' guy was! I think the fact that the author tells us who the culprit is makes it even more nail biting as you read about his evil plot to teach Alison a lesson. This book is not all horror, I loved the relationship Alison has with her two brothers and her ability to put up with their hovering as well as setting her up with Mitch!

A great Fall read, cuddle up with a blanket and enjoy this book on a cool end of summer night!

A pretty good read that keeps you turning pages until the end

As a social worker, Alison Taylor has a passion for protecting children and seeing that justice is served on their behalf. But when she starts getting harassing phone calls and bizarre "gifts," it seems she may be the one in need of protection. When her tormentor's attentions take a violent turn, her brother Cole comes to her aid, along with his new partner, an ex-Navy SEAL, Detective Mitch Morgan. As her relentless stalker turns up the heat, Mitch takes a personal interest in the case.

Overall, a pretty good book. But I could've done without the large emphasis on the romance aspect. Seemed like there was even more in the this book compared to others, and right from the first couple pages.

The suspense however, was written well. The reader knew who the tormentor was throughout, but the way it was written kept you turning page after page. Some parts made the stomach squirm a bit as it was pretty graphic, but overall, the author kept the reader engaged up until the end.

Deadly Pursuit is book two in The Guardians of Justice Series.

Available September 2011 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.

Revell Books sent me this complimentary copy to review for them. The thoughts and opinions are from my own brain.

In Pursuit Of A Deadly Stalker While Trying To Protect His Target

Irene Hannon in her new book "Deadly Pursuit" Book Two in the Guardians Of Justice series published by Revell Books focuses on Alison Taylor.

Alison Taylor is being stalked. She is receiving breathing phone calls and anonymous gifts. However, Alison is no stranger to danger she is part of a law enforcement family; one brother, Jake, is a federal marshal while the other, Cole, is a police detective. And both brothers watch out for their little sister. So now the hunt is on for the person who is stalking Alison with the addition of a new player: Mitch Morgan, ex-navy seal who is now the partner of Cole. Mitch takes a particular interest in Alison and he now has to keep her alive while the two of them work out their feelings toward each other.

As always with an Irene Hannon novel there is mounting suspense that seems to squeeze the breath out of you. In "Deadly Pursuit" Ms. Hannon seems to have written her best story yet. Alison's life in great jeopardy and this thriller becomes more and more exciting with the last hundred pages being an extremely wild ride. All I can say is imagine going on a roller coaster the beginning of the ride is nothing until you get to the top and experience that first drop then it is nothing but twists, turns, upside down loops until the ride ends. This is what Ms. Hannon does to us as readers with this book.

This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Hannon is an excellent writer who knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense. I recommend this book, and everything else that Ms. Hannon has written, highly!!

It's a good Chrisitan suspense and romance. However, I must give a bit of a spoiler: if you're an animal lover, you may have trouble finishing this book as I did.

I really enjoyed this book and the entire series. I also enjoyed

I really enjoyed this book and the entire series. I also enjoyed the other books written by this author. The story kept me on the edge of my seat or entertained the entire time. There weren't any slow parts. My only warning is do not start this book at night unless you plan on staying up. There is no good stopping point. The romance that is intertwined throughout the story is based on respect, intellegence, and a common relationship with God. I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable with any inappropriate language or intimacy. I highly recommend this book as a clean romantic suspense.

good but religious undertones were unexpected

The characters were good and the story was pretty suspenseful. The story has lots pf of religious cpntent though. They should habe put that in the decription.

    Frustrated

This is a religous romance and should b reviewed as such so the reader knows upfront what their getting and NOT getting! Also the same theme running through it got old "should i say something or not.? No maybe i shouldnt". Time and again character after character, COME ON!!! I dont have a problem with christian romances as long as i know upfront. The overview does not tell you this.

    Wonderful

I am so glad that the first book in this series was a Free Fridays book. The first was so good that I had to have the rest of the series. This one, if possible, was better than the first. The story line holds you and you bond with the characters. If you have not read this author, please take time to do so, she is well worth reading.

    Enjoying the series

I have never heard of this author. I love christian fiction, so when the first book Fatal Judgment was nook's Free Friday I read it. Loved it...so I love this one and can not wait for the third one. I did read the review about the person getting upset over the dog scene. You have to look at this as authors try and tell a believable story. We don't like for animals to get hurt but unfortunately they do. If you have a weak stomach for you animal friends skip that part of the story.
