Overview

Breaking assassin Jonathon Decker out of a maximum-security prison on Trakis One seemed like a good idea at the time. Now, pursued across space by the two most powerful factions in the universe, the crew of El Cazador are having second thoughts. They’d like to give him back. Unfortunately, that is no longer an option.

Jon is used to working alone. Now, he’s stuck on the space cruiser El Cazador until he can work out just what he’s supposed to know that puts him on everybody’s most-wanted-dead list. He’s not happy that the crew includes a runaway priestess with designs on his virtue—such as it is. Jon likes women, but he gave up the role of protector a long time ago, and Alexia, High Priestess of the Church of Everlasting Life, is an accident waiting to happen.

After twenty-four excruciatingly boring years of doing her duty, Alex is finally having some fun. She never meant to run away—it was a rash impulse—and she means to go back—eventually. But first, she’s going to squeeze enough excitement out of the situation to last her a lifetime. And what could be more exciting than a stunningly gorgeous werewolf?

Meanwhile, the Church are chasing their missing priestess, and the Collective are pursuing their escaped assassin. Being hunted has never been more deadly…or more fun.

Meet the Author

Nina Croft grew up in the north of England. After training as an accountant, she spent four years working as a volunteer in Zambia, which left her with a love of the sun and a dislike of nine-to-five work. She then spent a number of years mixing travel (whenever possible) with work (whenever necessary) but has now settled down to a life of writing and picking almonds on a remote farm in the mountains of southern Spain.

Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of paranormal and science fiction.

The second book in Blood Hunter series is an intriguing and exciting read that gets the reader’s adrenalin pumping.
Werewolf and assassin, Jon is used to working alone and now he’s stuck on the El Cazador while he figures out what he is supposed to know that puts him on everyone’s most wanted dead list.  High Priestess of the Church of Everlasting Life and runaway, Alexia is finally having fun, she never meant to runaway and is planning on returning one day.  And she has decided that Jon would be a very exciting companion only Jon gave up being a protector a long time ago.
This fast paced and stimulating plot is brought to life with well written and vivid scenes that put the reader right in the middle of the action and keeps them on the edge of their seat.  The fascinating journey has lots of surprises and twists as the characters try to outrun and outmaneuver their enemies.
All the characters are strong and compelling with lots of charisma that captures the reader’s imagination with snarky and fun dialogue that adds depth to this delightful adventure.  The attraction between Alexia and Jon is hot and steamy, despite the fact that Jon tries his best to stay a lone wolf and the sex scenes leave the reader sizzling.
The author conveys all the emotions and personalities with intensity that it makes it easy for the reader to connect to the characters and feel as if they are a part of the story.
This is an exciting journey for a ragtag crew of misfits that has futuristic, science fiction, fantasy, paranormal and romance elements that come together to make this a must read series.  The author does a brilliant job of combining all the elements and blending several conflicts into wonderfully entertaining stories that the reader doesn’t want to end.

    Excellent characters and plotting

This is the second book in Croft's Collective series, offering a welcome return to the El Cazador, a star wars esque ship of underdogs who manage to thwart the poweful reach of not one but two intergalactic cults. The first book introduces readers to the Collective; the second book picks up immediately afterward it with the crew on the run with a high profile prisoner they broke out of a supermax jail. The real focus though is on a corrupt Church leader intent on capturing someone else on board -- Al, the timid cabin boy.

The fast-paced plot grabs hold quickly in this quirky mash-up of space opera and paranormal thriller. Yep, vampires and werewolves teamin up with aliens. If that intrigues you, definitely give the series a try! You should start with Break Out if you want the back story.
