Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies (Blood Born Secrets Book 1) By Cynth

Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies (Blood Born Secrets Book 1)
    By Cynthia Cooke
Genie Marsters has secrets. She has empathic abilities, she can get impressions from people near her. She wanted to be normal. She also has two other sisters with the same abilities. After her mother's "accident", the three girls were split up, given new identities and sent to different boarding schools. Growing up, she believed her father did this because as the head of the CTA, Counter Terrorism Agency, a secret government agency he was busy with work. When she was older, Genie joined the CTA too.
Kyle Montgomery was Genie's partner and lover when she worked for the CTA. Her secrets eventually caused their breakup. Becca, one of Genie's sisters was involved with Sean Emerich whom she met in school. Emerich was an international crime boss who organized "everything from the movement of illegal arms and counterfeit goods to human trafficking." He was interested in the Marsters sisters, the question was, why? After an explosion in a warehouse that killed her sister Becca and severely injuring Kyle, Genie goes into hiding and quits the CTA. She never visits Kyle in the hospital believing she is protecting him. Kyle feels betrayed. While she is in hiding, she receives her mother's necklace in the mail. Feeling something is wrong with her father, Genie tries to get in touch with him to no avail. She is going to his estate to see what is going on. After rescuing her, Kyle goes with her, she is also getting visions of her "dead' sister. Genie's third sister, Cat was a wife with a husband and two children and far removed from anything dealing with the CTA. The sisters had very little contact with each other based on the recommendations of their father.
The story follows Genie and Kyle's search for answers from her father about what really happened to their mother, Becca's "death", why they were sent away, their psychic abilities, who the mole in the CTA is, why Sean Emerich wants the Marsters sisters and can they find the love they thought was gone.
This romantic suspense is the first in a series by Cynthia Cooke and she is off to a great start. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, a new twist was added. I enjoyed the relationship tension between Genie and Kyle as they tried to figure out if they could recover the love they used to have and make a go of it. I keep hoping she would let loose and tell Kyle all of her secrets. Can't wait to see if she finally tells him in future books. I also tried to figure out who the mole at the agency was. Too many suspects. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a new romantic suspense series. I look forward to the next book.

Genie Marsters has serious trust issues; her father made sure of

Genie Marsters has serious trust issues; her father made sure of it. Stuart Marsters had told his daughters from a young age to reveal nothing, to trust no one, and Genie and her sisters Cat and Becca obeyed. Their father had been the director for CTA – the National Counter-Terrorism Agency, and that’s where Genie had worked until 8 months ago. Eight months ago, when an explosion in a warehouse destroyed her life, and she had to flee. When she had to do things she regretted, but she had to keep her secret safe, even from Kyle Montgomery, her former partner, and the man she loved and left. She’s been hiding all that time, only her father knows where she is, until the fateful day when her secret hideaway in the desert is discovered. And that’s when Kyle comes in; he is still with the CTA and he is to bring her back in. And that’s where it all begins.

And how! Is there anything that Cynthia Cooke cannot write! DEADLY SECRETS, LOVING LIES is a thrilling romantic suspense, heavy on the suspense but the romance is just as wonderful. Ms. Cooke weaves a very intricate plot, with twists and turns that will leave you reeling. DEADLY SECRETS, LOVING LIES is meticulously constructed, totally believable, and very exciting.

Genie Marsters is a fabulous heroine: in fact, Ms. Cooke turns the genre on its head because Genie is the fearless, powerful one; she is very much the strong, silent type whereas Kyle plays the role usually reserved for the women in this type of story, and I think it’s absolutely fantastic! Genie is a heroine I can really relate to: she behaves intelligently, in a way that is fitting with her old job, that of a field agent; she is more than Kyle’s equal. He is the one pining for Genie, but he is not a wimp either; how perfectly wonderful to have a couple where no one is weak! There is so much love between Genie and Kyle, but also mistrust, secrets, and hurt, especially on his part.

DEADLY SECRETS, LOVING LIES is fast-paced, full of action, filled with fantastic characters, and let’s not forget the romance. I love how everything fell into place nicely; nothing convoluted, all logical. And it is beautifully written, in fact Ms. Cooke will have the honour of having the first quote I ever put in a review: “… a whisper in the wind, a shadow in time…”. Isn’t it simply gorgeous?

As I've said, this is my first book by Cynthia Cooke, and actual

As I've said, this is my first book by Cynthia Cooke, and actually the first book I've read from Entangled Ignite's imprint. At 256 pages, it's fast-paced, engaging, and easy to read.

Genie Marstars' life in hiding has ended. Once she receives a package from her father, who would never contact her unless in an emergency, Genie is forced back into her old life when a group of mercenaries attack her at home. But who should come to the rescue? None other than her old partner and lover, Kyle. They work together to solve the mystery behind her father's disappearance and all the while fight the attraction they've always had for each other. In vain.

I was immediately caught up in Genie Marstars' new life within the first few pages of the book. The writing makes me worry for our heroine when an unexpected delivery man (is he really a delivery man?) shows up in the middle of the desert, claiming he has a package for her. Not long after, maybe even minutes, mercenaries are penetrating Genie's homemade fortress and her new life is blown to bits. Add a hot Counterterrorism agent (and an ex to boot), and Cooke has given me exactly what I was looking for. Compelling romance, fast-paced suspenseful action, and most importantly inspiration for my own work. Any author who can do that deserves 5 stars for sure.

    Action & More Action
Do you like action from the first page on? Throw in an "enhanced gift", trust issues, love & we have a very good suspense story. Mix in "just who ARE the bad guys" & we have a "can't stop reading until the end" book. This is my first book by this author & will not be my last. Loved it.

Review: "Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies" by Cynthia

"Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies" by Cynthia Cooke was a very good romantic suspense read that I thoroughly enjoyed so much that I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. You will find yourself guessing until the very end which you will be left with a cliffhanger. Be ready for non stop action read! This author was able to keep me on the edge of my seat all the way through this well written novel.

This author's heroine.... Genie's(formerly CTA) past has finally caught up with her and the lies surround her as she attempts to get the truth of really what happened in the death of her dear mother. Genie is very tough and has two sister...all three are triplets...(that has been hidden ) sister(Becca)could be dead or a traitor to the country and the other sister (Cat)is in hiding with family that knows nothing of her history. Genie is now being sought by someone who is out to get her and her sisters. Now, their Dad(who was the ex-directory of the most secretive agency in the U.S.Government) now missing. Will the CTA come to their rescue? Who will Genie put her trust in? What a mess!

The hero was Kyle who was a ex boyfriend of Genie's...who worked for the CTA and now enters... in his chopper with Johnny. What a team that swoops down and brings Genie in for questioning and what a rescue from this 'goon squad' from Genie's 'secret' residence.

All of the characters from Genie, Kyle, Johnny, Cat, Becca, Emerich, Marsters,Amelia, Garrison, to Cameron and I am sure I have left someone out but this group really all a very interesting making this an emotional, passionate, heart stopping good read.

This novel will be full of plots that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I do not want to tell you too much more because I want you to pick up "Deadly Secrets,Loving Lies" to find out just what this secret that the triplets had, why their father keep them separated and even more will come out of this excellent read.

Be ready for a read where there will be love, betrayal, guns, explosions, secret powers, black SUV's lust, boat blowing up, death, vendettas, grief, revenge, finger pointing and some moments that will leave you saying WOW!... I didn't see that coming!

"Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies" will only leave you wanting more in this action paced novel and I would recommend this novel as a excellent read if you are in for suspenseful and romantic read.

    Really fabulous book!

    My Review:

As the premier release for the Dead Sexy line for Entangled, this book lives up to the hype. I loved this book. There is tons of action, intrigue, and one seriously hot and sexy couple in Genie and Kyle.
Genie and Kyle were everything to each other, partners and lovers with a Happily Ever After in their future, until 8 months ago when her family lies caught up to them and Kyle almost died. Genie left him without a backward glance for his own protection. The love between this two is undeniable, but while Genie has accepted they have no future, Kyle hasn’t. He knows she’s keeping secrets, but believes they can work past them if he can just get her to trust him. But for Genie, it’s hard to abandon a lifetime of programming and mistrust.

For me, the thing that absolutely made this book were the very real and gut-wrenching feelings between these two. Their passion and heat is incredible even when neither one of them will trust the other. They can’t help the level and depth of their feelings even when both of them know it will just mean more devastation later.

There’s a lot going on in this book and I never did figure out exactly what the true version of the story was until it was revealed. I kept guessing and second-guessing the bad guys all the way through. I love stories like that.

Overall this was a fabulous read…tons of emotion, passion, and heart-stopping adventure. Genie is a tough, hard-as-nails heroine who can hold her own in just about any circumstance, but her vulnerability is Kyle because she loves him so much. There is never any doubt about that and that made her such a fabulous character to love. The same can be said for Kyle. Together they make an incredible team and it makes for a great romantic suspense story. I really loved it!

Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies delivers a thrill ride of action-pac

Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies delivers a thrill ride of action-paced suspense. Genie, an ex-government agent, just wanted to be left alone. But when guns are blazing at her private retreat, she can't ignore her family or her life any longer. The hardest part of her returning is that she has to face her hunky ex, who she left without a good explanation. I loved the emotions and the crazy adventures these two have--Will they get together? Should they get together?--as they are forced to work together to try and figure out who has betrayed them--her family? the government? or a villain from her past? I look forward to reading more romantic adventures from Cynthia Cooke.
