Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - RevaBeth Russell
The types and pressures of drugs are different for young people today than it was for their parents or grandparents. Students want to know about drugs because there is a big draw of the unknown and they may know people who have tried different drugs. This book addresses many questions that a young mind might think of but be afraid to ask. Young people many not have realized that they have been taking drugs since they were little in the form of medicinal drugs. Many students see other students using EpiPens and asthma inhalants and wonder what they are for. Legal and illegal, as well as performance enhancing drugs are discussed with the warning that even legal drugs can become habit forming. The reader will learn that the drug in tobacco is the most addictive drug known and one person around the world dies from a smoking related cause every 6.5 seconds and that marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug in the world. There are no platitudes. The book is strong on facts with real life stories and simple factoids or tips to handle peer pressure. Part of the "Healthy Lifestyles" series. Reviewer: RevaBeth Russell
