Overview

Bilingual Edition.

In these lyrical tributes to Anne Frank's courage and individualism, Chilean poet Marjorie Agosin captures the wrenching paradox of the young diarist's unshakable love of life, a love which endured unspeakable horrors. In this bilingual collection, first published in 1994, Agosin makes the girl's humanity palpable even as it damns the inhumanity of those who perpetrated the destruction around her.

What People Are Saying

Isabel Allende
"With transparency and authenticity, Marjorie Agosín leads us through the universe of Anne Frank. With her poems as our guide, we transverse history's darkest corridors, yet are reminded of the endurance of the human spirit. This is a poetry that is both memorable and haunting."
William F. Schulz
"In language as lyrical as it is luminous, Marjorie Agosín retrieves Anne Frank from the realm of cliché and offers her to us afresh - a Rosetta Stone to the world's suffering, both in Anne's era and our own."
Claribel Alegria
"Marjorie Agosín, one of the most lyrical and refined voices in Latin America, offers us in this book about Anne Frank further proof of her depth and sensibility. It is a book that must be read, illuminating poems that unveil the spirit of two extraordinary women."
Liv Ullman
Her poetry vibrates with electricity and compassion for those who cannot speak for themselves. She cpatures the soul of the lost and helpless. Her Anne Frank poems are among the best I've read.
