The hilarious and bestselling series from Jim Benton continues!

The loser will be treated to a game of Dare or Worse Dare... with Isabella. (And Jamie's pretty sure that's like having a banana-peeling contest with a starving monkey. The monkey always wins.)

What could go wrong? Probably everything. And it's probably all that blondwad Angeline's fault. Probably.

Jamie still has no idea that anyone is reading her diary, so please, please, please don't tell her. And definitely don't tell her that she's the star of her very own Dear Dumb Diary movie, available on DVD. (Her glamorous ego might not be able to handle it.)

EXCERPT:

Dear Dumb Diary,

Isabella and I had one of those days where you spend four hours trying to come up with something to do, and then by the time you do, there’s no time to do it so you just watch TV in positions that make it look like maybe you were born without bones.

We do this about twelve times a month.

"Since we're not doing anything, we should practice debate," I said.

"No, we shouldn't," Isabella said.

"We just did," I said.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

The problem with friends is that they are generally difficult. At least that's what Jamie thinks about her near-constant companions Isabella and Angeline. When a friendly game turns into a slightly scary competition, Jamie can't help writing about it in her diary. What she doesn't know is that her BFFs are peeking into her very private journal..... A very entertaining trade paperback original in a popular series.

From the Publisher

Praise for DEAR DUMB DIARY:

"This series is so much fun -- hilarious and creative -- giving a voice to an average-seeming kid, who knows deep down that she is something special." --INDIGO KIDS

"Benton has a gift for writing Jamie's voice exactly like the girl you'd want sitting next to you in class, whispering terrible comments." --KIDS BOOKS CENTRAL

"Benton is a genius at expressing a believable preteen girl worldview without silly vernacular or dumbing down to his audience." --KIDSREADS.COM

Children's Literature - Margaret Orto
Jamie Kelly still does not know that her diaries are being read. That is a good thing for fans of the “Dear Dumb Diary, Year Two” series since this fifth volume continues the daily mishaps of the painstakingly honest, somewhat cynical, but always funny middle school girl. When Jamie’s frenemy, the perfect and blond Angeline, gets a record number of ‘likes’ for a positive post on the school’s Student Awareness blog, Jamie attempts to outdo her in what she believes are more honest, though cynical, comments. The two girls find themselves in a debate over whether positivity or negativity wins the day. Jamie’s scheming friend Isabella concocts a contest to see who can last longer when dared to switch their behavior to act like the other girl. The loser must play Dare or Worse Dare with Isabella—something Jamie fears. Various subplots run throughout the story, some with more success than others. An especially funny one is Jamie and her dad’s challenge to avoid wearing the unstylish home sewn clothes that Jamie’s mom insists on making for them. Comic illustrations sprinkled throughout the diary add to the hilarity. Jamie has attitude and behaves like an older Junie B. Jones. However, some of her comments and observations are borderline inappropriate and more sensitive readers might be offended. Others will relish Jamie’s spunk and creativity in facing the realities of her life at home and school. Reviewer: Margaret Orto; Ages 8 to 12.
