Death In the Rockiesby Domingo A. Rocha
Yolanda Prescott is in trouble again; but this time it's on the right side of the law. Newly married to the Chief Detective Inspector of the New Zealand Police Department, the FBI calls pleading for her help to track a serial killer who is on the loose and murdering drunk drivers. So far, he has limited himself to the Rocky Mountain states but they fear he will move to other areas making him harder to track. He is gifted with computers and despite his sending them a multitude of messages, the FBI is unable to identify him or track him down. They need Yolanda's unparalleled computer skills to change the game and bring this 'vigilante' to justice.
However, Yolanda doesn't know whether she wants the vigilante caught, as she still deals with guilt from being the cause of a near fatal accident while driving under the influence as a teen. Furthermore, she is just about to finish her college degree in Music (flute) and cannot take time right now to hunt for a serial killer, no matter how much fun it would be.
The death toll continues to climb however, and the pressure from the FBI increases. So when they arrange for her to finish her music degree with world renowned conductor and former flutist, Sidney Cabot she agrees to help.
To everyone's surprise and her chagrin, instead of her usual role of hunter, she becomes prey as the serial killer decides to take on this famous hacker, 'The Aliekat' in a battle of computer wits. Move and countermove ensue, during which she unexpectedly has to confront the inner demons that still haunt her. The chase ends with a face to face confrontation with the serial killer. Who wins? Find out in Death in the Rockies.
