This fast-paced romantic suspense mystery/thriller features Michelle Hallam who heads a unique consulting firm she inherited from her deceased uncle, a former intelligence agent. Called to the French Riviera for business under mysterious circumstances, Michelle meets Dr. Daniel Reiner, a handsome young psychiatrist. They have a strong physical attraction but Michelle remains wary of being involved with him. Daniel's friendly, warm personality and urban wit stands in contrast to Michelle's outward facade of cool cynicism. In New York, Michelle reconnects with Dr. Reiner when she sends him a referral, her client, Nora Parker, who has asked Michelle to look into the suspicious disappearance and possible death of her husband. The complex case involves both Michelle and Daniel in espionage, international intrigue, and murder, placing their lives in jeopardy. The novel combines elements of suspense, mystery, and romance.

Englishwoman Michelle Hallman owns a mysterious consulting firm which she inherited from her uncle, a former British intelligence agent. Michelle has no close friends or relatives and prefers not to be in a relationship due to her work which can be dangerous. When she's called to the French Riviera on business, she meets psychiatrist Daniel Reiner and is immediately attracted to him but a bit wary of the attention he shows her. Back in the States, Michelle is hired by a woman to investigate the circumstances behind the sudden disappearance and alleged death of her husband, a CIA agent. Michelle refers this woman to Daniel when she realizes she is suffering from depression and Daniel is instantly back in Michelle's life, tagging along and insisting on chasing clues with her. Michelle's investigation leads them to the CIA, National Security Agency and KGB, where they learn nothing is as it seems and danger lurks around every corner. Seewald pens a tight plot filled with intrigue, mystery, suspense and romance. The chemistry between Michelle and Daniel is nicely delivered and the banter between them engaging. The mystery is one readers will be challenged to solve and the fast-paced plot will keep them vested in the story.
I am old enough to remember the transition from radio to TV back in the 1950s. Like a radio script, "Death Legacy" leaves much more to the reader's imagination. Rather than get into every detail of the love-making or the confrontations between the good guys and the bad guys, Jacqueline Seewalkd lets the reader imagine some of the action. This is a risky writing strategy, but like the oldtime radio script writers, she manages to pull it off. While short on cheap thrills, the plot is full of surprising twists and turns, and it really DOES keep readers on the edge of their seats. The sexuai tension between "the boy and the girl" is somehow maintained from start to finish. If you like romantic thrillers, then you'll REALLY like "Death Legacy."
Death Legacy by Jacqueline Seewald is an exceptionally well-written novel reminiscent of Nora Roberts’ at her very best authoring of romantic suspense mystery novels. The banter between Michelle Hallam, a mysterious English woman, and Daniel Reiner, a Brooklyn-born psychiatrist, is clever and enjoyable. The mystery develops into a genuine espionage suspense thriller. The characters are engaging and original. It’s a novel you don’t want to put down and will want never to end. I hope to read more books from this relatively unknown but fine author.
I couldn’t put it down! Death Legacy is a fast-paced thriller that keeps the reader guessing until the very end. I don’t normally read thrillers, but I have enjoyed Jacqueline Seewald’s Kim Reynolds mysteries so much that I wanted to read her new thriller. Now I can’t wait for the next book featuring Michelle Hallam. Michelle is definitely a 21st century heroine. She is smart, tough, sophisticated, and full of surprises. She has clearly met her match in Daniel Reiner. Death Legacy offers the reader a thrill ride that is equal parts romance, international intrigue, and psychological puzzle. The writing is so vivid that the reader is thrust into the middle of all the action and doesn’t get to catch a breath until the final page. Jacqueline Seewald’s writing style has all the elegance, charm, and surprising toughness of her main character, Michelle Hallam. This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys a smart and sophisticated thriller full of non-stop action. You won’t be able to put it down.
Seewald’s Death Legacy romps deliciously through the world of double agents, international secrets, and a hot love affair. Jacqueline Seewald has penned a sexy read with strong characters caught up in the world of international intrigue. Classy P.I. Michelle Hallam has it all – great looks, great intuition, and extensive weapons training. When her investigations company takes on the job of finding out what happened to a dead CIA agent who allegedly committed suicide, trouble rears its nasty head. Kidnappings and murders are chump change for the bad guys, but despite the danger, Michelle and psychiatrist Dainel Reiner team up to learn the truth. From the Mediterranean seaside to New York and Washington D.C., this book will have you turning the pages to learn what happens next.
