This is one of the best manga I have ever read! Suspenseful and will keep you wanting more. Learn from my mistake and buy ALL of the series instead of just buying one.

When you die, I’ll be the one writing your name down. The older I get, the harder it is for me to find a comic series that can hold my attention. Death Note completely overwhelmed me with it’s clever plotting, reveals and excellent artwork, so when I spotted the Black Edition I snapped them all up! Since I don’t own the previous version, I can’t be certain, but I’m pretty sure the Black Edition is slightly larger and contains some new color pages at the beginning. Not to mention it contains two books, coming in around 400 pages and has a sweet cover with black painted sides. It’s a sharp looking set when you put them all side-by-side (except for How to Read #13 which is smaller, and white - Boo!). The anime is also good, but I enjoy the artwork from the Manga much more, Obata is wonderful with expressions (Check out the introduction of L on page 260). My favorite thing about this series is the story. It’s very strong, original, and extremely well thought out. If you like details and smarts, this is the series for you!

Should I read this? I've heard of this many times before but I'm not sure if it's a good read.

My daughter has been wanting these books and was thrilled to find out they were essentially a double-issue and so were well worth the money.

This is a very good read if you enjoy some of what I would call darkness/horror. It's not horrible but I liked pieces and my sister loves it and the series. She's a big fan as it was a gift for her. It arrived quickly and on time and in new condition ^_^ She enjoys it and loves it so it is a good read if it's in your likes of a dark anime. -nods-

Wow. That is pretty much all I can say. My friend gave this to me for my birthday because she loves it and wanted me to read it. I think it is a good manga, despite crazy Light who goes around killing criminals to "save the world and make it a better place." This all started when he found a "death note" that a shinigami(death god) dropped on the earth. I won't spoil it for you that haven't read it. So if you are intrigued by crazy maniac killing then this is for you, but if you're not...then back away very slowly from the shelf and forget you even thought about buying it. :) But personally, I thought it was good and want to get the next one asap!

This book was so amazing! I loved it. I finished in a day because I couldn't put it down. Now I am completely obsessed with Death Note and I can not wait until my next trip to the bookstore so I can get volume two. I have just started watching the TV show for death note and I also love it, as much as I love the book. I find that it was smarter for me to get the black edition because it has 2 books in one so you don't have to go to the bookstore twice. Or whatever. I'm really glad I chose this instead of a vampire book. Also, I loved this book even more because my name is Kira!
