Very fast paced. Interesting look into Asian community, both legal and illegal.

    Deadly Pauses

Slow-moving. The main character spends a lot of time flirting with a local woman, waiting for his host to return home, sleeping, waiting for results, being out of commission due to illness, etc., rather than trying to get to the bottom of a murder.

There is a touch of Dischism when the main character muses about how the story is not coming together. Some chunks of exposition stick out. This is a cleaned-up edition, but still has some howlers in the spelling and grammar departments.

    First novel for this author.

    The ending is abrupt.

Death on a hill good reading

Good story. Couldn't leave without finishing. Only problem was editing can't abide by misspelling and bad use of grammer.

    Good read.

It was a good read but perhaps more for a male audience.

    370 pages, first person

This 370 page, free book, is written in the first person. It is about an investigative reporter, who lives in Chicago, but is currently vacationing in California, at the home of his best friend. The friend owns a small town newspaper, which needs to increase its readership. A just the right time a murder occurs. With the help of a bumbling police officer, everything comes together at the end of the book. The characters are likable in this book, the plot is pretty good, with a few twists and turns. The editing is okay, with some mistakes, but I have seen books here lately, that make this one look like perfection in that department. No cursing, extremly mild sexual references, quite a few comments on female anatomy. The murder(s) is described in a rather off hand manner. No preaching. A straight forward murder mystery which can be enjoyed by both sexes. Ages 16 and up.
