Joel Arnold creates an interesting atmosphere that's somewhere between mystery, horror, and thriller....it's really kind of hard to place the genre. One thing is for sure....it's creepy.
A deadly family secret is the forefront of the novel, and Joel gives you "just" enough information to lead you on....you know there's more to it, and you want to find out. There's no real twists and turns in this novel, it's straight forward, but the with the twisted mind of Joel Arnold, some of the descriptive scenes can be pretty brutal.
The only thing I'm kind of confused on, is to why the book is titled Death Rhythm....the book does have a band snare drum....but it really doesn't play a huge part in the novel.
This book was entertaining, and I've already picked up another of his books "Northwoods Deep" and look forward to reading it!
