In the third book of the ESCAPE FROM FURNACE series, Alex Sawyer must confront the worst enemy of all - himself. The Warden of Furnace should be furious with Alex. Alex has tricked him, defied him, and tried to escape - twice! However, the Warden views Alex with something worse than rage: he sees him as a good candidate. Suffering from injuries and burns from his second escape attempt, Alex is taken to the infirmary where the wheezers inject him with the starry midnight nectar that keeps him from feeling pain, but also infuses him with a building anger. As Alex's body tries to heal, the Warden and blacksuits begin poisoning Alex's mind with words, with films, and with promises of what life will be like when he is one of them. Slowly, Alex begins to turn into what he has fought so hard against - an inhabitant of Furnace. The third novel of this series was awesome! Smith has managed to turn the series on the reader. For the first two books, I was anxious for Alex, hoping he'd survive Furnace with his life intact, then his sanity. In this book, I was simply hoping Alex would be able to keep his own identity! The non-stop action keeps the story rolling right along, and leaves with a cliffhanger that makes the wait for the next book so hard to bear!

    Awesome

Choose book one to read on a whim. Can't put any of the Furnace novels down. This volume did not disappoint. It's fast paced, dark, and wonderful.

    From a girl's perspective

After reading this book, i thought.....AMAZING!!!! Eventhough im a girl, it doesn't mean that i can't read these books. Of all, i would recommend this some of my other friends....who i might say....are girls!! Whoever said that these series were only for boys has seriously just insulted me and the other girls who read this. Enough with the sexist comments, okay?

    Action Packed, Never Boring

Just like the other books in this series, it was amazing. The Escape From Furnace series has to be one of my favorite series of books. The plot of the book is well written and the characters are in depth. I actually felt emotion for some of the characters, which books rarely make me feel. This book is action packed and a little bit more violent and bloody than the others, but so much happens in this book. You never get bored of reading it. Even when there isn't action and it's him thinking, it's entertaining and worth reading. Can't wait to read the fourth book in the series, I know it will be just as good.
