Rising to the top of the food chain, vampires no longer have to hide who, and what, they are. The government is held tightly under their thumb, as well as the pharmaceutical and entertainment industry. They pretty much control the entire world. Manon Mourey has led a dull life, always wondering what it is that she exists for. Working as a card dealer at the Transylvania Hotel, Spa & Casino, she¿s known no other way of life. Her brother has been her primary caretaker, something she detests but will not openly admit to. The fact that Nico¿s also a warlock, whose powers he inherited from their necromancer mother, doesn¿t necessarily sit well with her. Plagued by a never-ending illness, she believes that she truly has nothing to live for within the world as they now know it. When her brother orders her to stay home one night, Manon finds it within herself to rebel against him. To his dismay, she goes to work anyway. She never imagined that doing so would land her in the arms of a very powerful vampire named Mikkel Damgaard. Mikkel makes her an offer that seems too good to be true. Yet Manon wonders if she can actually accept it, for it goes against everything she¿s ever believed in. She soon comes to realize that she never really had a choice and accepts Mikkel¿s demands. As she makes her transition into one of the undead, the other vampires soon become privy to the secret that Manon hides inside. She is an anathema - one who cannot be left alive. The International Vampire Council has decreed that her life is forfeit, thus springing a war that threatens to divide the world itself. I absolutely loved this book. It was an awesome spin on the whole humans versus vampire story, except this time it¿s vampires controlling us. Danielle has a unique story-telling style that keeps the reader riveted to that message that she wishes to convey. I truly recommend the book to others for reading. So looking forward to part two of the series.

An Amazing book! A unmatched realistic take on the vampire world. The characters are extremely developed, and relatable. Incredibly smart, and I enjoyed the look into the vampire society that Ms. Blanchard had created. The plot and pace, was relentless (in a good way). I could not stop reading. The sexually intense moments will have you steaming up your reading glasses. So take caution. This is a great book to recommend.

Overview
Las Vegas, NevadaMy name is Manon Mourey and I am a twenty-eight year old Let It Ride dealer at the Transylvania Hotel, Casino and Spa in Summerlin. You can say my chances of a way out are pretty limited seeing as I am in debt, don't have a car and live with my gay brother and his lover.
Enter the man of my dreams: Mikkel Damgaard. He's gorgeous, worldly and a vamp...what more...
