Excellent addition to the Broslin Creek romantic suspense series

Excellent addition to the Broslin Creek romantic suspense series

    4 1/2 stars

“Deathblow” by Dana Marton is the exciting fourth book in the enthralling ‘Broslin Creek’ series. Officer Joe Kessler is juggling many things in his life, his undercover assignment that results in his being handcuffed in a car that is forced off the road, his love life that gives him his well-deserved reputation as a ladies’ man, a murder investigation that involves a friend and a favor that he agrees to do even though he is slightly discomfited by the idea. Model and single-mother Wendy Belle struggles to cope with the abusive behavior of her child’s father but is unwilling to accept that she needs protection against him, despite her friend Sophie’s pleading. Wendy and Joe have a past connection but they are uncomfortable when forced into proximity and subsequent developments increase the tension as well as the danger to each of them, physically and emotionally, and it is questionable whether they will both survive to explore a deeper connection.

This compelling series continues to provide exciting and suspenseful tales as it expands to include various characters associated with with the Broslin Creek police department. The gripping introduction to the hero’s predicament is contrasted with the sobering experiences of a woman who has to learn that she deserves better in life. There are several different threads deftly woven together as the tension escalates and danger threatens both of the main characters and the light relief provided by Wendy’s adorable son and the furry secondary characters is a welcome counterpoint. The sensual connection between Joe and Wendy provides delicious heat and their poignant experiences together enhances the relationship that develops. There are a couple of places where credulity is a bit stretched but the overall story is a wonderful rollercoaster of a read and an excellent addition to the series. I continue to be impressed at the author’s ability to write a mesmerizing tale and advise you not to start the story unless you have time to finish it because you won’t want to put it down. Can’t wait for the next story involving these charismatic inhabitants of Broslin Creek.

Another great visit to the Broslin Creek area by Dana Marton! This book will not disappoint as it is layered with wonderful plot lines that converge to make a well woven visit to your friends of Broslin Creek. The story is peppered with reality that keeps the plot lines grounded and interesting. You won't want to miss this advention as the action will have you gripping the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens next. Will Joe solve the crimes that overlap in time to save his damsel in distress or will Wendy take matters into her own hands and save herself? You have to get the book right away and find out, trust me you won't be sorry! Between the action of the police work and the heat of the characters as they dance around each other, you will get a great work out mentally and feel like you were the one doing the dancing! I will be impatiently waiting for the next Broslin Creek book to come out so I can visit again!

I have read several books by Dana Marton now and I always enjoy

I have read several books by Dana Marton now and I always enjoy her work. She has a talent for keeping me on the edge of my seat while I am reading. I enjoy a nice romantic story with some great suspense included.

Deathblow starts with an extremely dramatic and suspense filled scene that caught my attention right away. The rest of the book was just as thrilling and kept me completely captivated.

Joe Kessler is one of those guys that I know I would want on my side if I was in trouble. He's brave, smart, and handsome as sin. He has a very dangerous undercover job and finds himself in many life threatening situations in this book.

Wendy Belle has found herself in a horrible relationship. She is a mother of a little boy and she will do what she has to in order to protect her son. She is use to taking a lot of abuse and doesn't have a lot of trust for anyone. She does have a few friends that she does trust and they step up to help her. She is almost afraid to accept the help for fear of what her jerk of a ex-boyfriend will do to her when he finds out that she has told someone about the situations.

Joe helps to watch over Wendy and her son. There is an attraction between these two right away, however Wendy has trust issues and isn't sure she should let Joe in her life. I really enjoyed how Joe interacted with Wendy's son. He shows Wendy how much a real father figure could mean to her son's life. Joe might be a strong tough guy but he has a heart of gold and it is a big teddy bear when it comes to the people he loves.

This is an incredibly captivating story that has a LOT of twist and turns that I did not expect at all. Overall this is a wonderful suspenseful romance that I really enjoyed reading.
I really enjoyed reading Joe and Wendy's story. It was certainly an emotional read as well as a suspenseful one.

I can not wait to see what Ms. Marton has in store for us lucky readers next. So far everything I have read by her has been wonderful. If you are looking for a romantic story that is going to keep you are on the edge of your seat as well I think you should check out Ms. Marton's work.

I was given the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my opinion with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Deathblow.

    My Review:

4.5 Star Review - DEATHBLOW Broslin Creek Series

    I recommend this book.

As always I enjoyed the book by Dana she combines suspense with humor very nicely. This book includes drama, passion, attempted kidnapping, gunfire, betrayal and romance throughout the entire story.

Look forward to the next book in this series Due out in 2014:

Joe is on a undercover assignment that is going down hill fast. Once he makes it home he is assigned to protect Wendy. He met Wendy months ago and she has been in his head ever since.

Wendy is afraid of her ex. She just needs him to sign papers but instead he attacks her. She runs in fear of her life and the life of her son.

While Wendy and Joe dodge her ex. they are trying to figure out if they can have a relationship.

As the book continues Wendy becomes a stronger woman with Joe's help. Joe learns lessons about how to tread lightly so Wendy will let him into her life.

Fast paced action story. Just when you think you know what will happen Dana throws in a curve. Had a hard time putting the book down. Dana know how to keep you sucked in the story.

This was another awesome book in the Broslin creek series. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

It was a really great book you are going to love it.

I loved this book so much !!!!! I love this storyline, a woman trying to get away from an ex and the hero that helps her get away and heal. I loved Joe he was strong and human and Wendy wanted to be strong she had a young son to take care of but she had trust issues and she was very scared. I love the story of the hero or white knight coming in to save the day and the princess so they can live happily ever after. The other bonus of this book it is the 4th book in the series and the characters from Deathtrap make an appearance in this book too. I love seeing "old friends" again, to see how they are doing!! Dana Marton writes fantastic books with charaacters you can't help but fall in love with. I am a huge fan of her books and definitely recommend this one.

Every time I finish a Broslin Creek novel I can't wait to start another!! Every book is filled with excitement, scorching hot alpha males and women who epitomize strength and resilience! It is long past my bedtime but picking up one of Ms. Marton's books always means not setting it down until it's conclusion and "Deathblow" is certainly no exception...Joe and Wendy will wring every emotion out of you but their happy ever after is so satisfying it is worth your investment!! Great book!

This is the second book in this series, I would definitely read book one, Elite, to get the full effect of this one.

I loved the first one and couldn't wait to start this one. It definitely has a different feel than the first, it is only told in male POV, but I felt it worked well and added to the story to not know what was going through trace's mind. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!

    Wonderful Book!!!
This is a great book, Dana Marton has not failed me yet! This series keeps getting better and better. I loved Joe and Wendy, and was rooting for them throughout the book. Joe is a police officer who is dedicated to his job, he is juggling an undercover assignment, trying to solve a murder of his friend, and then gets asked to help protect Wendy from an abusive ex. Joe and Wendy had a one night stand a few months ago, so Joe and Wendy are not happy with the idea of Joe protecting her. This book is filled with suspense, mystery, and romance. I highly recommend this book, even though it is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone.

    My rating: 4.5 of 5 ¿¿

Single mom, Wendy Belle is doing her best to make ends meet, but since the birth of her son, the modelling jobs are not as easy to come by or to schedule. The real problem is her her ex, who won't take no for an answer,  forcing her to hide out at a friend's place in Broslin, PA. Not only that, apparently Broslin's Golden Boy has been appointed to keep an eye on her as well. Tall, gorgeous, cocky as all get out, and very, very familiar....

When years ago,  Joe Kessler traded in a potential football career for one in law enforcement, he did it because it was the right thing to do. He was too trusting, so that was a mistake he promised himself never to make again. From then on, every pretty woman he encountered, he enjoyed, he entertained, and he left behind. No two ways about it! But then his captain caught him coming out of an undercover op, tired and hurt and told him to do some light 'baby-sitting' duty for a friend who might be in trouble. The 'friend' is someone he hasn't been able to get off his mind for weeks now!!

A very brief, very good, very hot, but very definite mistake was the encounter Joe and Wendy had after a fundraiser a few months ago, and neither had expected to be thrown together again. Wendy is quite adamant she doesn't need protection, but when some disturbing events indicate she may be in more danger than she thought, she reluctantly lets Joe invade her and her son's lives. Joe makes himself at home with her little boy and makes sure he keeps Wendy safe. And slowly they start seeing each other in a different light.

But when his regular assignments require his attention, danger finds Wendy and it becomes clear they are dealing with someone who wants to do serious harm. With not just the different investigations heating up, but also the connection between Wendy and Joe, it becomes more and more difficult to know which direction to turn.......

    *****

Another winner!!! I so love the Broslin Creek Series, all these books are very loosely connected by merit of location and its police force. Some of the characters make return appearances, but each of the books is its own story with a HEA. And DEATHBLOW, like the ones before it, has a very high suspense factor.

Joe is a bit of a womanizer. Well, a lot of a womanizer. He has trust issues around women, which is why he doesn't let them in and doesn't allow himself to develop real feelings. It doesn't help him much with Wendy, because despite the negative impression he had painted her with, he was unable to forget about her after their brief encounter, and once he had an opportunity to get to know her and learn her situation, he was toast. There was no stopping his protective instincts from charging to the forefront and taking over and he fell as hard for her son as he did for her.

Having grown up as a model and then living with an abusive man has not done much good for Wendy's self esteem. Young yet, but having been told often enough that aside from the physical attributes she once may have had, she has very little else, if anything, to offer, has her feeling very vulnerable. It takes Wendy a long time to trust men, especially ones who are quick with the charm and good looks. Words mean less to her than actions, and it is through his actions that Joe is finally able to break through to her. Once she feels Joe at her back, secure, her spine turns to steel and she is able to face the devil himself!

I love the character growth in this book. Two people who view each other as shallow, are each surprised by the depth and strength of personality they find. Not only that, but they allow the other to flourish and stand by in encouragement and support.

I have a real love for stories that have good balance when it comes to romance, suspence and a heat factor. Dana Marton's books provide that balance.

¿A tight, potent, stirring tale of false impressions.¿

I lived this book questions the previous ones in the Brosslin Series.  Joe is a macho ex football player who becomes a cop. He is tough and ready to protect Wendy from her dangerous Ex. He has a heart of gold, helping the small town residents financially and by providing services that they need. He is juggling several cases and seems to be away when Wendy needs him the most. He rallies and saves her life and her son. Gripping. I read it in one sitting. I did not want to put it down.

The first chapter of Deathblow hooks you in with unrelenting excitement as you meet the two main characters: Joe Kessler, an undercover cop, caught in a gang related car chase and trapped in the back of a police cruiser which is currently sinking rapidly in the Schuykill River; and Wendy Belle, unwed mother of a two year old and trapped in a physically abusive relationship with her baby's father. The story brings these two together in the town of Broslin Creek, a familiar setting for three other Dana Marton novels. It also brings back cameos of other Broslin Creek characters, including Captain Bing and Sophia. Nonstop action as well as a touch of romance all play out in this latest Death installment. Disclosure: I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Deathblow kept me on the edge of my seat. Joe Kessler is a great police officer who is dedicated to his job. He met Wendy, a model, a few months back. He has been hurt by women in the past but there's something about Wendy that he can't let go of. Wendy is being abused by her ex-boyfriend, who is also the father of her young son. Wendy's best friend is dating the police chief, who is Joe's boss. She asks him to have someone watch Wendy and her son and Joe is assigned to protect them. Joe realizes as he spends more time with Wendy that his feelings for her get stronger. This book is action packed and full of excitement. I highly recommend this book. It is a must read

Deathblow- A Broslin Creek Novel by Dana Marton.

THIS IS THE BEST WORK I’VE EVER READ BY MISS MARTON! The dynamic storyline with twists and turns had me yelling, “ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME? SERIOULY, DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!” I smiled. I cried. I yelled. I did not feel like a reader, because the character development was so superb in Deathblow, I felt ALL the pain, the blows, the anguish, and the family and friend relationships. This story put me on a journey that was intense from Page one. This book, folks, is not for the faint of heart! As an avid reader, this is TOP NOTCH work from an Author that never lets me down.

The story takes place on the East Coast, with many different aspects. I was shocked how well they interworked. Amazingly, the story line range of gangs, homicide, tragedy, family, friends, humor and sex, combined with accurate statistics giving this story such creditability and time line of realism plaguing our society.

The main male character is Joe Kessler. He’s a police officer assigned to the Gang division. He assists with a homicide that has close connections to his department. He is a former local football hero, favorite with the ladies, and has compassion to help “those” kids. The ones often overlooked in this world.

The female lead is Wendy Belle. She is a model, single Mother, trying to escape an abusive ex-boyfriend. I enjoyed seeing Wendy discover her strength and determination to provide for herself and her son, Justin. I admired how she just didn’t give in and let another Alpha male take control of her life. That was a refreshing aspect to the story!

The abusive ex, Keith Kline, is a really well written character with severe physiological control issues. Miss Marton’s depiction of accuracy with his thoughts and actions are all too frighteningly real!

This emotional and intense reading ride has left me exhausted! Miss Marton has completely out done herself with Deathblow. I am glad I have a week until Christmas. I just might need the week to recover! Folks, this is what GREAT WRITING IS
    LIKE!

This was my first visit to Broslin Creek, but it won't be my last. I loved the characters in this book! I especially enjoyed Joe and Wendy (and Justin, too!). I liked the development of the relationship between them and his true self revealed and reinforced again and again. I was so pleased with Wendy's strength. Justin was adorable and such a good little boy. I laughed over Peaches and Prince (Pirate, of course). Loved how the story grabbed me from the start and never let me go. Awesome read!

    Another Broslin Creek Hit!!

This is another great book by Dana Marton. I only recently discovered her books and now I can’t seem to read them fast enough.

While each book is suspenseful, romantic and hard to put down once you start, the story lines are very different so in no way are you reading the same story again just with different lead characters. This book seemed a bit more emotional to me – the heroine has an abusive ex-boyfriend.

Deathblow is the fourth in the Broslin Creek series. All of the books standalone but you might enjoy them more if you read them in order. I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.

Here are they are listed in order:
    #1-Deathwatch
    #2-Deathscape
#3-Deathtrap – loved them all but this one is my favorite.
    #4-Deathblow

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review but I got the first 3 on my own.
