Editorial Reviews

Denise Perry Donavin
Margaret Binton, Barth's 72-year-old New York City Miss Marple, joins a self-help group to quit smoking, then loses her group-assigned partner, an author, to a stabbing. The police are ready to write it off as a mugging, despite Binton's persuasive talk and excellent cookies. So, Binton and her band of aging street people must narrow the field of 80 suspects who appear in the manuscript of the recently deceased writer. Realism is Barth's strong suit, and the city people and setting are wonderfully drawn. Fun, suspenseful mystery fare that takes older individuals seriously.
