Meet the Author

Unlike most authors, Stephanie Nelson didn’t dream of becoming a writer. Her interest laid in photography. It wasn’t until four years ago when she picked up her first paranormal romance book and fell in love. Books quickly became her addiction and the local bookstore her favorite place to visit. It wasn’t long before her own stories began to form and nag her to try her hand at writing. After countless attempts, Stephanie ended up giving up on writing for a while. But her imagination wouldn’t allow her to quit. Deciding to give it another shot, Stephanie began to write the Gwen Sparks series. The first book in the series, Craved was published seven months later and reached #1 on Amazon’s bestseller list and #6 on the Barnes and Noble bestseller list.

Stephanie resides in the Midwest with her husband and their furry children. When she manages to pull herself away from the computer, she enjoys traveling, fishing, playing board games and spending time with her family.

    Better than the first!

I didn't think Ms. Nelson could top her first book, Craved. But boy was i wrong! Deceived is amazing and exceeded my expectations. She knows how to write a book book full of mystery, intrigue, sexual tension and action that will leave you on the edge of your seat! I'm so pumped for this series and to find out what book 3 will entail. Stephanie Nelson may be an Indie author, but she has the talent to compete with the big dogs!

    Excellent sequel

It's difficult to top the first book in a series. That being said, that's exactly what Stephanie Nelson did with Deceived. The story line was engaging and the new characters left me intrigued. Dorian in particular. Although Gwen is adamant about her feelings for Aiden, the connection she shares with the Angel of Death is unavoidable. I found myself actually rooting for Dorian which is sad because in Craved i was team Aiden haha. The sexual tension between Gwen and Dorian was excellent. Stephanie has a way of describing her characters so they feel like real people. Add to the fact that she knows how to set up a scene so you feel like you can picture the place, well it makes for one excellent book! Can't wait to find out what happens in the third book. On a side note, i'm very anxious to read her upcoming book, Taming the Wolf. We get a small preview in Deceived and i so wanted to keep reading.

This is the second book of the Gwen Sparks series. Gwen is now at the Witches Council and has no choice but to help by being their secret weapon against the vampires. Gwen doesn't want to go to war but if she turns her back on her own kind, she will become an outcast with no protection. Gwen believes with Aiden on her side that she can figure out a way to solve the "brew" problem without war against the vampires. Dorian, the Angel of Death, has been tasked with teaching Gwen to use her spirit walker side. Gwen feels a strong connection with Dorian but wants to remain loyal to Aiden. Aiden will use his own sire, Aaron, to break her bond with Ian but the cost is high for Gwen. She must let all of the vampire council drink her blood. In the end when a plan is set to kill Ian and break the bond, the truth comes out who is good and who is bad. This book drops a big bomb on Gwen and I think will change her for the rest of the series. I didn't like that Gwen is constantly fighting with everyone in this book and never really embraces her spirit walker side until she is forced to. I really do like the series and will continue to read them.

In book 2 of The Gwen Sparks Series, we see Gwen in Moon preparing for a war against vampires. Her relationship with Aidan is stretched to the limit when she learns of secrets he’s hidden and the American Witches Council finds out she’s bonded to Ian Devereaux. In the middle of all of this, in walks the handsome Dorian, Angel of Death. This sequel was even better than book one, Gwen learns about her powers, there’s romance and even some mystery in the mix. Although this book was remarkably shorter than what I’m used to, it was a fantastic read worthy of a five star rating!

    Enjoyed every steamy drop.

Great book! Sexy and exhilirating made for a good second after Craved. Im hoping that the next one comes out soon and will definitely be buying it. Its refreshing to have a book about the supernatural that doesnt revolve around teenagers in high school.

Not quite to my liking, but still a good read

I really enjoyed the first book in the Gwen Sparks series by Stephanie Nelson, Craved. Getting to know Gwen and her friends Fiona, Micah, and especially Aiden (hubba, hubba), as well as learning all about the town of Flora and the interactions between different species in the paranormal world. Gwen's irreverent sense of humor and sensualistic nature made for some very compelling reading!!

I was looking forward to reading Book 2, Deceived, and it was still a good read, but much, much darker than Book 1. Gwen learns the consequences of her run-in with the evil Ian Despereaux, is distrusted by the Witches Council due to her relationship with hunky Aiden, and has to learn to work with the Angel of Death. Along the way Gwen witnesses and is forced to experience some pretty horrific events which we the readers get to encounter right along with her, in pretty thorough detail. It was a little too much for me.

Deceived was not quite to my taste, but it was still a good read with lots of excitement and unexpected twists.

The story focuses on the witches and the vampires exclusively this time as a war is brewing between the two races, and pays specific attention to the role Gwen is to play in that war. She struggles to balance her trust issues, boy problems, war training, and training in her Spirit Walker gift. Not to mention her struggles with her bond to Ian that we discovered at the end of the last book.

Despite a few editing errors, the book was interesting and thrilling as Gwen wades through the complex situation she’s found herself in. I didn’t relish walking in Gwen’s shoes during Ian’s attacks, but I get how the experience was integral to the story as it drove Gwen’s actions, decisions, and behaviors. Overall it was an enjoyable read.

Deceived picks up a week or so after Craved ended and I was still on my love high with Aiden when a new and sexy character is introduced.

Gwen has left her lover (and mine) Aiden to meet with the witch council in Moon. While at Moon Gwen happens on the dreamboat that is Dorian and let's just say the spark is ignited. To add to the complications Gwen is being haunted by another vampire Ian, who would be sexy too if he weren't creepy with his own ulterior motive. Talk about some complications.

The twist in the plot completely caught me off guard. I thought I had the story figured then BAM! the ultimate twist.

This page turner kept me up most the night wanting to find out what would happen next with Gwen! The next book I'm hoping is out sooner rather than later so I can see how things will go with the mysterious new character Dorian. In short Ms. Nelson did not disappoint.

I give this book 5 stars and make sure you have a pot of coffee brewing just in case you stay up all night to read.

After reading Craved, I wasn't really sure what direction Deceiv

After reading Craved, I wasn't really sure what direction Deceived would take other than the obvious insinuation that Gwen Sparks would be betrayed in some sense. What I discovered shocked me. Poor Gwen is betrayed more than once and her life is turned upside down. In Craved, she had learned that she was actually part Spirit Walker, which meant she had a connection with ghosts. At least that's all she thought it was. In reality she has a connection with the entire world of the dead including being able to have out of body experiences where she is still capable of all her powers as a witch. In my experience, most authors take the idea of astral projection to be the person floating outside their body and unable to do anything. Stephanie Nelson gives it a whole different perspective that I found refreshing and very enjoyable.

I will say to those people who are really picky, there are some typos in the book that I actually didn't really notice until I read another person's complaining review about the typos. I think the story is good enough that you can ignore those just to enjoy the story. Instead, find yourself caught up in Gwen's desire to be with her beloved vampire Aiden while trying to learn to be a spirit walker from the hunky angel of death Dorian, training for the upcoming Vampire-Witch war, and overall wishing to return to her "normal" life. I don't want to give away too much about the plot because it will surprise you and you deserve to read it yourself. Let's just say that at the end, you aren't sure who will win over Gwen. Will Aiden be the only one for her or will Dorian weasel his way into her heart? Personally I am cheering for Dorian. I just hope that in the next book, Coveted, that Gwen will get to see what Dorian REALLY looks like. It's exciting and will leave you wanting more!

    Great Follow up Book

This was a fantastic follow up book to Craved. I like where the Ms. Nelson is taking Gwen. The addition of the Angel of Death brings much interest to the story and it doesn’t hurt that he is totally hot! I’m looking forward to the next installation of the series.
