I loved this storyline. The book was hard to put down. The only thing I didn't like about it was the ending. Not to give a spoiler, but you're left in the air about a choice. You will have to read the second in the series to get an answer. I don't like stories to do that to me. I would rather have liked the ending, and would have still read the next book.

Although a lot of the ideas developed in this book have been done before, the author creates interesting twist on the fate of her main charecters. She also does a great job developing the charecters enough to where you really care about what happens in thier future. It was an easy read and held my attention. I cant waitfor the next book.

This was a very interesting book.  I don’t normally read YA but this book grabbed me and took me on a wonderful journey.  Reminiscent of Twilight but with much deep characterization, this is a good book for any young adult and for this adult , too. Congratulations to Ms. Claflin on a great read.

This book sounds like the Bella and Edward tale. I really question how original it really is. The GONE series by the writer is much better! An ok read, but not at all memorable.

Stacy, I have just finished reading Deception. To be honest it was a little slow getting into, but once I got further in it was wonderful. It is well written, and a very interesting take on vampire mythology. I really liked it. I cannot wait to read the second book. thank you!

I loved it. It kept me guessing the whole time. I loved the difference in which she portrayed vampires. It's different from the normal vampire stories and is refreshing. Alexis is a great character who really builds throughout the whole story. To be thrown into it all the way she was and still remain sane was no small feat. I liked the other characters as well. Even Tanner grew on me. Well he really grew through the story. He first comes off as a jerk Jock, then an addict but then he changes or rather lets his true self be seen and you can't help but fall in love. I don't know if I believe it was the spell or destiny that brought the two together. The spell caused her reaction initially but that's not what causes her feelings to grow into what they became. Him being the only one there for her during an extremely difficult time was what really caused it. And I cried during that scene in the woods. You know what I mean if you read the book. The end after the battle made me cry too. It also made me hope and laugh too. Cause let's face it after everything that happened I have a soft spot for Tanner and kinda want her to choose him even though she is supposed to be with Cliff. It will be very interesting to see what happens next.

I was given a gifted copy by Story Cartel in exchange for an honest review. When I chose this book to review it, I wasn’t very sure of it as I get a little bored with most of YA, but I have to say that it was really a pleasure to get into the story. The characters are well developed, it is full of twists and mysteries and the author’s style of writing make the book a good and interesting one to read. I wonder what is next for all the characters. The only but I found was that it needs some editing. A book I recommend to read even if you are not in for fantasy or YA.

Deception is an entertaining novel for teens and adults alike. This isn’t just another vampire novel. Claflin creates an interesting world  and a compelling mythology never before seen in literature. The characters are easy to relate to, the plot is well-conceived, the pacing is  strong, and the rules for the storyworld are new and first rate. I give this book 5 stars, and I’m certain if you give it a chance, you will too.  I personally loved Deception.

While I enjoyed the book, there were some typos and grammatical errors. I could tell it was written for younger teens by the verbiage and the way the plot moved. If I was 13, it would have been a most awesome book. Though I may go ahead and read the rest just so I know how it turns out.

I was disappointed that Cliff went from regal to pouting like a child, then not having fought more for what he wanted. The battle was too short for my taste after having been built up to being nearly impossible. I was also disturbed that Alexis was so indecisive but suddenly made a snap decision with no regard for anyone else's feelings. Although i agree the decision at this point feels right. Now the good stuff! I loved the romance, the depth of feelings, & the magic of love that spans time. I enjoyed the book very much overall. The characters were real & so were the situations of a teenage life. I have two of them & know all about real teenage drama! Hit the mark on that one. I read this book in about 2 hours because I was hooked on the love! I want to get all of the series now so I can continue being in that world longer.

I liked the idea of the story and really enjoyed the beginning. However, it seemed like the farther I got in the book the more stilted and immature the writing became. Probably won't buy anymore

Interesting storyline - Claflin's take on vampires, the rules of the world - I was intrigued. I liked that the story kept me guessing, once I thought I knew what was going on, how things worked, Clafin would throw a curve ball, changing the rules. Alexis deals with family troubles, trouble with boys, with friends, with being presented with a new reality and corresponding high expectations. She's not perfect, she makes mistakes, but she does the best she can. While I liked the romantic interests - beware, love triangle ahead - I did wish Cliff was a stronger character and more of an alpha male. Claflin leaves us in an exciting place, wrapping up some things while presenting us with a whole new host of challenges for Alexis to face in the next book. The cover. This time I wasn't too wild about it, but I still think it's pretty interesting. Maybe it's because I don't think the models fit the characters, but that's just me I guess. So, I'm giving this three triquetras only because Alexis annoyed the hell out of me at some parts. I think that when she realizes what she is she falls into the role a little too quickly and she acts like she's some big bad _____ when she obviously doesn't know what the hell she's doing. Not sure if that was intentional on the author's part or if it was just me being too picky. And Tanner...is a junkie which bothers me that Alexis went along with his plan so easily from the start. All the things that Alexis can do just makes it seem unrealistic. I know this is a fantasy, but it seems like she can just do too much too quickly. I also wasn't a fan of the dialogue and how there were so many exclamation points used. Again, I think I'm just being picky. The romance between Cliff and Alexis also was a tad odd. I understand their bond and how it came to be, but I don't think it should've been as strong in the beginning as it was. It creeped me out ever so slightly. Decent book, not one of my favorites, but a good read if you like vampires a bit more than moi.
