Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

In one of the most arresting memoirs of a United States president, Richard Nixon focused his story on the crises that defined his early career. George W. Bush's new Decision Points breaks the conventions of political autobiography in a similar way, describing his tumultuous presidency through the moments when decisiveness was most essential. Thus, the 43rd President of the United States writes candidly about the fiercely contested 2000 election; the hours, days, and weeks after September 11th; the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; Iran and other Middle East conflicts; the gathering financial crisis that burst into the 2007-2008 Recession; Hurricane Katrina, and other events during his White House years. A Barnes & Noble Bestseller; now in paperback and an enhanced edition NOOK Book.

If you want to read about how President Bush views his life and presidency, this book does a excellent job of that. It often leaves the reader with questions and certainly does not contain deep reflection (that will take many more years to develop), but it is the George W. Bush talking about George W. Bush as he sees himself and his presidency today. It is not a work of master prose. The President writes like he speaks.

    DECISION POINTS REVIEW

Excellent read. It is nice to get into the mind of a President, any President from any party, of our Nation. Getting to understand the purposes and consequences behind decisions that must be made, in one unique journey through words.

It clarifies the precise and difficult utilization of one of the greatest documents ever written, The United States Constitution. It further enforces the proper power of and necessity for Separation of Powers and Checks and Balances?

Highly Recommended: This book is a real "page turner"

I love President George W. Bush's writing style. As I began reading this excellent book, I found it increasingly difficult to set it aside to take care of other, everyday tasks.

He gives the reader a lot of insight about his personal background as he was growing up along with the trials and challenges he faced as a young, rebellious adult. I loved his honesty and how he shared how he overcame the substance abuse problems.

As the reader becomes further involved in the historical aspects of his political life, the decisions he had to make and the ultimate outcome, it feels as though he is sitting there, talking to the reader 1:1.

I did not vote for this president either time he was elected but I value the fact that he led our great Country in the best way possible. Today, I view President George W. Bush as a courageous, honest man of great integrity. Thank you Mr. President for serving our Country.

Highly Recomended-Definitely a necessary read for anyone interested in the lives and thoughts of our country's leaders.

Well written and structured in such a way that one is not lost in the unfolding of events. Though one may not agree with all of the decisions made by President Bush the reader is given a clear presentation as to why he made the decisions.
I am reading this book along with Vice President Cheney's book. This makes it easier to follow the events which have so profoundly affected our world.
The presentation of this book brings out some of the great aspects of the Nook. The images and videos are wonderful and I especially enjoy "jumping" to the text of speechs and letters.
A great addition to any Nook "bookshelf".

    Interesting reading

If you remember 9/11 and were interested in George Bush, regardless of what you may have felt about his presidency at the end this book is an enlighening read about the man and the behind the scenes of the historical events of his presidency. I am touched by his deep thoughfulness about events during his presidency, his experiences in growing up and education that shaped the man. This is a book to read whether or not you are deeply interested in politics. E.C.G. Missouri

    3 word sentences

I had a real hard time believing that President Bush had actually written the words I was reading. This coming from a man who barely was able to formulate 3 or 4 words into a sentence when speaking to the citizens of this country while in office. I found it to be an unrealistic "gloss" job. Glad i borrowed it and didn't actually spend money on it. Full of fiction and fantasy. I see the righties raving about this book and one of them even went as far as calling him eloquent. We obviously weren't listening to the same man. Eloquent - now that is a stretch.
