I absolutely LOVED this book! There is a touch of romance which will develop more in the next book. All the ideas are original and the characters are genuine. I can keep reading the book again and again and never get bored! I'm anxiously awaiting the sequel coming out in July.

I picked this book up on a whim with very low expectations, but found that I skipped all plans for an entire day and night to read it start to finish--I could NOT put this book down! Dawn Cook's characters are creative and organic, and particularly her wonderful, tough hero Tess had me absolutely riveted. She is the best protagonist I've read about in a long time, and proves that the gritty action roles are not exclusively for the men!

I was searching in the fantasy section of Barns and Noble for new books to read for a trip I was about to go on. I saw The Decoy Princess and read the back but I put it back on the shelf. It did not appeal very much to me and it looked more like a tween fantasy book. Also, I am an artist and I totally judge books by their covers and the cover to this book was not in my taste. After searching for about another hour I did not find any books that appealed to me at all so I decided to give The Decoy Princess a try. Boy was I wrong about the book. I loved SOOOO much it is now one of my favorite books. The tween fantasy book thing was put to rest after reading one of the slightly gory descriptions towards the beginning of the book lol. And the cover does not do the book justice (in my opinion). This book is AMAZING!!! Definitely BUY IT!!! I would give it 1000 stars if I could :D

Loved it! Comparable to the Bloody Jack series with a mix of Graceling in it.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this book but I was pleasantly surprise. Tessa is a strong character, I think. And despite her struggling emotions with everything, she does what's right and really does care. It's definitely a book worth reading.
