What People Are Saying

Ann Astell
Ann Astell, Purdue University:

Kolin's poems are prayers that can be prayed-as meditations on the Scriptures and the sacraments; as sighs of longing; as cries of penitence; as hymns of praise; as prophetic outcries against evil; and as contemplations of God's beauty, goodness, and power in His creation. Part of Kolin's own pilgrimage, the poems are meant to accompany the reader's journey to God.

Charles W. Dahm
Charles W. Dahm, O.P., Pastor, St. Pius V Parish, Chicago:

Philip Kolin's soul-searching verses are more than poems; they are passionate prayers of the human heart yearning for God's loving care and understanding. Kolin's poems help believers and skeptics alike explore the unknown depths and hidden recesses of their souls in search of their creator, their savior, and their divine friend. These poems put a human, compassionate, and loving face on a God too often perceived as distant and disinterested.

Susan Ludvigson
Susan Ludvigson, author of Trinity and Sweet Confluence: New and Selected Poems:

In these vivid, emotionally wrenching love poems, Philip Kolin charts the progress of his journey from worldly desolation to spiritual ecstasy, from hopelessness to a renewal of faith. Kolin's combination of passion and fine craftsmanship cannot fail to move the reader.

    Deep Wonder! Deeply Wonderful Book

At a time when many have concluded that organized religion no longer touches or answers their deepest needs and desires, this book will breathe new life and hope into their search, speak to their deepest longings, embrace them in their questions and satisfy their innate hungers. 'Deep Wonder' will find a home in the heart of the mystic and the mystified, the desert-embracer and the non-discriminating seeker. It is a book that is ponderous and profitable, reflective and refreshing, deserting and assuring, emotion-capturing and affirming. This book of poems will plunge you deeper into the mystery of life, love, death, resurrection, mystery itself and God.
