Overview

Rain Wilson isn’t ever going to love again.

It’s a promise she made the day of a terrible water park accident, one she still blames herself for. Now she’s a senior lifeguard in a new town with a new pool and she’s just going to keep her head down and everyone safe.

Until a mysterious guy follows her into the waves at the pre-season bonfire and kisses her senseless. It’s just one mistake, and Rain is determined to put it behind her, until the dark haired, blue eyed hottie turns out to be her new co-supervisor Knight Mcallister.

Knight is hot, tatted, and carrying baggage of his own. He’s not happy about having Rain for a co-supervisor, and he’s even less happy about his attraction to her.

But between lifeguard drama, hot underwater kisses, and a growing attraction between them that can’t be stopped, Knight and Rain are being pulled deeper into their pasts, and realizing that sometimes too much broken can make a relationship impossible.

Then again sometimes it’s the broken parts of us that fit together best.

Meet the Author

Blue Ashcroft is a water baby who was basically raised on her family's different boats. She enjoys swimming, cliff diving, walking during rainstorms, and playing in puddles. She lifeguarded for three years and brings that experience to her debut novel Deeper, a new adult romance about two lifeguards with traumatic experiences coming together and healing together.

She loves snuggling with her husband, and yes, kissing him under water. She does not, however, condone anyone trying to replicate the under water kissing scenes in Deeper. Some of them are dangerous even for strong swimmers.

3 STARS! Rain Wilson leaves her home to work as the new senior l

    3 STARS!
Rain Wilson leaves her home to work as the new senior lifeguard at a water park in California after a terrible accident happens at her old pool, leaving her full of guilt and promises to never love again. Now all she wants is to lay low, and keep everyone around her safe, no matter the cost.
But her plans are ruined the minute she locks eyes with Knight Mcallister, her new co-supervisor with a past and secrets of his own. Knight lost someone he loved, and can't bear to see anyone get hurt, especially Rain. After a kiss that leaves them both wanting more, they're left fighting their attraction to each other while their pasts hold them back.
But when all Rain wants to do is save others, disregarding herself, and all Knight wants to do is save Rain, they get on each others nerves. Can they overcome the past and accept their feeling for each other, or will past demons keep them from being happy?
Ok, lets get down to business. I gave this book 3 stars because it was honestly just ok for me. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it just wasn't that great in my opinion.
    What I liked:
    - The Writing was poetic and actually pretty good. It flowed well, and I didn't have a problem with it.
    - The setting was very original (a water park), and it was interesting to learn a little about the lifeguard life.
    What I didn't like:
    - The book was just too slow paced, and I didn't really get into it.
    - Besides their past holding them back, all the other problems that came up during the book had to do with sexual abuse, and it bothered me that these multiple different problems all had to do with that one thing. It just didn't seem realistic that every time a character had a problem it was about that specific thing.
    - While I felt for the main characters because of what they went through, I just couldn't connect with them.
    - No part of the book made me laugh, had me surprised, or really made me feel much other than annoyed or sad.
Overall, this book had great potential with the plot and the characters, but I just feel that it could've been so much better.
Book Stats:Genre: NA Contemporary RomanceSteam Caliber (out of 5): ♥ ♥Characters: Felt for them due to their pasts, but just couldn't connect with them.Storyline: Solid and had good potential, just wasn't executed as well as could've been.Writing: Poetic and flowed well; I had no problems with it.POV: First Person: both Rain and Knight's.Ending: HEA, standalone.

    Slow

Rain and Knight are co-supervisors at a redesigned waterpark at some inner city near a ocean beach. Knight has problems from an ex-girlfriend. Rain from an almost boyfriends accident that causes guilt and her to make irrational promises to herself.

Knight's story is somewhat believable. Rain's story is not. Without going into plot spoiling details, the story of what happened to William and the aftermath is just not possible.

The writing is slow moving and not well developed. I had a hard time finishing the book. I actually started to skip paragraphs. Thankfully it was free.

I wasn't sure what to expect; the reviews were all over the plac

I wasn't sure what to expect; the reviews were all over the place on this one. Overall, it was well-written. I would definitely categorize as a young adult romance - most of the characters were teens or just past that, and their views, actions, dialogue, and attitudes reflect that. There was nothing light or funny about this one - it dealt with a lot of serious issues, like rape, suicide, and senseless, tragic death, along with the crippling, guilt-ridden emotions of those close to the victims. Don't get too depressed, though - there were some welcome rays of hope in the last chapter that leaves things on a slightly happier note than the rest of the book. If you like troubled, angsty coming of age stories and have a box of tissues handy, then this is the story for you.

    Great Book!

Such a great book, makes you dream of love..its well written and has some great poetic words to it. I loved this book, it is more of a younger audience book though, i think thats why the reviews are all over the place.

    If it wasn't free...

Cannot believe I forced myself to finish this book. I know Rain is young but there is no way anyone would make that kind of promise to someone whom she had not ben on one date with. This could have been a better read if not for that plot point.

    Love love love!!!!!

I finished it in one day.it was really short because usually i read 400 page books an over, but i can honestly say it was better than some of the bigger books i've read and i could like feel the passion between knightly and rain,i cried, screamed, and laughed along with them.i espacially liked it because it was good without being one of those paronormal books with demons and stuff because those are the ones i usually choose.i like how it didnt end with cliff-hangers but still left you dying to read the next book.overall i loved it and cant wait to get the second book.!!!!i think there was 156 pages.

    Worth the time

Liked the way the author told the story through 2 first person accounts. Thought it rounded out the story and gave better perspective on the 2 characters. Would recommend this one.

    It was a good read.

I was dissappointed that the main characters were so young.way to young to be making life long commitments to a loveless, sexless life. It would have read better if Rain and Knight were 10 years older.

    on again off again

I don't jike books written in the first person and we have two characters doing it! Some interesting story lines but it always goes back to Rain saying i cant, i fhink the whole book could have been written in 3 or 4 chapters if it weren't for the "on again off again" i too am gjad it was a freebie
