Overview

A rogue knight and an enchanting renegade join forces to right old wrongs in award-winning author Kris Kennedy’s sizzling new medieval romance.

A warrior with questionable intentions . . .

Jamie Lost is the king’s most renowned commander, a fearless lieutenant ordered to kidnap an exiled priest before rebel forces close in. The mission is simple—until he meets a mysterious thief who will steal his quarry and then his heart.

A lady of remarkable courage . . .

Beautiful Eva is also seeking Father Peter, but she intends to protect him from a secret that could cost him his life. She senses that she, too, should fear Jamie—not just for his wickedly sharp sword and dangerously muscular body, but for the powerful longing he ignites within her.

A secret that could overthrow the king.

When a band of mercenaries abducts the priest, Jamie and Eva must form a volatile alliance. As civil war unfolds around them, they embark on an epic journey that betrays the truth about their hidden identities, their unexpected loyalties, and the simmering attraction that could seal their fates forever.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Medieval England and its tumultuous history is the backdrop for this daring romance. Jamie Lost a top lieutenant and right-hand man for King John is sent to retrieve Peter of London because Father Peter has information and secrets that could turn King John's reign into ruins. Jamie is not alone in his search—Eva is back after fleeing England 10 years prior and with the help of her charge, Roger, is determined to find Father Peter as well. He protected them for years, and now is Eva's chance to return the favor. When another interested party attempts to kidnap the priest, Jamie and Eva forge a tenuous alliance. Despite their simmering attraction to one another, neither will stop their missions—to keep Father Peter and the secrets he holds safe. The love story is both sensual and charming, with flirtatious and sizzling encounters. Kennedy has a way with words, and the witty banter between Jamie and Eva is a great pleasure to read. The history is absorbing and well-woven through this satisfying novel. (May)

readers will be spellbound by the exciting adventures of Jamie and Eva

In 1215 English King John directs his fearless knight Jamie Lost to kidnap exiled priest Father Peter. Without questioning the task having sworn his allegiance to his sire, Jamie, who knows a rabbi hides Father Peter, sets off to bring the priest and his documents to his king.

A decade ago Eva fled England. Now she is back seeking Father Peter to keep him safe just like he did to her and her companion Roger. Jamie catches Eva stealing, but she escapes to his amusement. When a third party abducts Father Peter; Eva and Jamie team up in pursuit of these kidnappers. Though neither trusts the other, they are attracted to one another even as the danger mounts while a civil war seems imminent.

Although this is a medieval romance, the incredibly fast-pace and the witty teasing exchanges between the lead couple are rarely part of the sub-genre; in fact the verbal war brings a modern feel that is counterbalanced cleverly by Kris Kennedy including plenty of early thirteenth century history. Action-packed with fascinating escapes from danger, readers will be spellbound by the exciting adventures of Jamie and Eva.
