Like any overview, this condensing of the oeuvre of Canadian prog-pomp pros Saga might miss a favorite deep album track hidden somewhere in the quartet's quirky catalog, but Defining Moments, Vol. 1 snares the band's biggest radio numbers and, like the title implies, lets the listener hear what Saga is intrinsically all about. "On the Loose," "Wind Him Up," and "Cat Walk" shine here in all their glory. Ironically, "Social Orphan," also from Saga's commercial peak, doesn't show. All four selections from the '90s unquestionably conjure Queensryche.
