    Somewhat Useful Tome

Unless you run a campaign with epic level characters this book is probably is not the best investment. It includes info and stats on the Greek, Egyptian,Norse, and D&D pantheons but how useful is that? You can get more information from a good world mythology book. Just figure all the gods are invinsible and can change reality at will and you're there. The first rule of dungeon building is 'Avoid unnecessary work.' I feel 70% of the book breaks that rule, at least for the sort of campaigns I like to run. I did find some useful items in the book, new domain spell lists, a new prestige class, and several good adventure/campaign ideas. Overall, it could have been less extensive and more useful as a trade paperback. But that's just my campaign style. If you're players are tuff 'nuff to take on Gods, go for it.

Very incomplete when compared to the old AD&D books.

Good source for some additional fantasy characters but they are very much detached from their "historical" mythological counterparts. Several pantheons are missing key characters, monsters, etc. Recommend you get a copy of the old AD&D Deities & Demigods to compare it to and I think you'll find the old books to be more informative & interesting even though they are very much out of date. I was somewhat disappointed and expected more. However it did have some excellant illustrations and very detailed characters in the book. Also recommend that DM's read an assortment of books on Greek, Egyptian, & Nordic mythology to get a feel for the proper perspective on how these characters should act out and behave.
