RECENTLY REVIEWED
"In summary, the updated edition represents a worthwhile source of evaluated, evidence-based insights into up-to-date clinical neurological examination and valuable specific tests helping to ensure proper techniques in neurological diagnosis." - European Journal of Neurology Volume 21, Issue 1 January 2014  Page e7.

"Most of us in practice will appreciate the balance of anatomy and pathophysiology here, as we are typically consulting such texts..."
"This textbook, however, can play an important role in medical education at all levels."

Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Heidi T Woessner, MD (Mayo Clinic Florida)
Description: This well-written book concisely and completely covers all of aspects of the neurological exam. It is an update of the sixth edition published in 2005.
Purpose: The stated goal is to present a streamlined and updated book for a new generation of neurologists. This edition includes four-color design, evidence-based insights, updated figures and references, tables of differential diagnoses, and lists of clinical findings.
Audience: The intended audience is anybody interested in performing and interpreting a complete neurological examination, including medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, neurology residents, and practicing neurologists. However, readers should have a high commitment to the field of neurology as the vocabulary is quite specific and no effort is made to cover low-level fundamentals.
Features: In 52 chapters and 789 pages, the author deftly covers all of the maneuvers and interpretation methods for the complete neurological examination. The book is filled with many graphics. In fact, I would say on average that graphics cover at least 30 percent of the page, are in full color, and have great resolution. Not only are proper exam techniques and interpretations of findings described well, but pertinent differential diagnosis is discussed in fair enough detail that this could serve as a primary reference for differential diagnosis based on exam findings.
Assessment: This is a fantastic book that more than satisfactorily covers the content and interpretation of the complete neurological examination in an easy-to-read format. Though not everyone has the same learning style or approach to the neurological examination, few will disagree that this is a well-written, thorough, easily understood, and memorable book. The fonts, choice of colors, and graphics are easy on the eyes and the content is thorough and concise. The author definitely has achieved his goal with this edition.
