Meet the Author

In her search for love and acceptance, Janet Gillispie traveled a long, hard road through addiction, prostitution, homelessness, racial prejudice, violent rages, degrading activities, betrayal, and regret. Delivering a fourth child that she did not want, she had a radical encounter with God. In that instance, she was radically transformed and has never looked back. Quick to admit that she is still flawed, she and her daughter are examples of God’s redeeming power, His ultimate love, and His unexplainable peace. Her 30 years of deceit and guilt had her constantly moving from job to job; however, the new Janet was recently recognized by her employer as “Outstanding Employee of the Year.” Quick to admit she is not a saint, all who know her can see the remarkable difference in her life and the sense of joy and peace that she has.

Sammie Jo Barstow wrote the feature story about Janet Gillispie's life for Missions Mosiac magazine and since then has been passionate about telling Janet's story. The author of numerous articles for various Christian publications distributed by LifeWay and the Woman's Missionary Union, an auxiliary to the Southern Baptist Convention, she has been writing for more than 20 years. She has two daughters and four grandchildren.

Top 5 books I have read of this nature. Janet's story reminds me of the transformation of Saul to Paul in Acts. She has been on the right path for12 years so this is an true addiction recovery that lasted. Tremondous story for shows what the Grace of God and support of many Christian friends and family can accomplish. This is a real modern day miracle life transformation. She by her life, speeches and this book attempting to encourage all of us on this sometimes rocky road we call Life.
