Overview

The Delta Solution is an action-packed novel dealing with the Somali pirates operating off the southerly reaches of the lawless East African republic on the Indian Ocean.

For the past three years, these heavily armed tribal brigands have been capturing and holding for ransom massive cargo ships, especially oil tankers, and violently demanding millions of dollars for their return. Pirating out of the tiny Somalian village of Haradheere has become a very lucrative, dangerous business, so much so that the village has its own Stock Exchange with a reputed $78 million cash, all in crisp $100 bills, in the town vault. And each time an owner pays big for the return of their ship, the pirates immediately do it again, enraging the Pentagon more and more by the day.

That is, until the "Somali Marines" make a big mistake, seizing at gun point two United States ships and demanding a $15 million ransom for their return.

Hero Mack Bedford, previously encountered in Diamondhead and Intercept, is deployed to SEAL Team 10 to form The Delta Platoon. His objective: obliterate the Somali Marines in the middle of the Indian Ocean, at all costs, once and for all.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Cdr. Mackenzie "Mack" Bedford takes on Somali pirates in Robinson's rousing if less than suspenseful third action thriller to feature the courageous U.S. Navy SEAL (after Diamondhead). Mohammed Salat, "the Godfather of the Dark Continent," is the brains and the money behind the so-called Somali Marines, well-equipped, well-trained brigands who seize tankers and cargo ships off the African coast that they hold for massive ransoms. When the pirates grab a freighter chartered by a U.S. aid agency, Mack takes charge of the Delta Platoon, a new unit of handpicked SEALs. The plot slows as Robinson dwells on the SEALs' extraordinary training and the smooth, sophisticated operations of the Somali Marines. When the order is finally given to go, the Delta Platoon is ready for both daring rescue operations at sea and the brutal task of attacking the pirates' fortified headquarters in the Somali town of Haradheere. Readers will cheer as Mack and his team solve the vexing problem of Somali pirates. (May)
From the Publisher

“The high-action thriller lives on. Here is a rare tale that’s not only ripped-from-the-headlines timely, but also so elegantly structured as to evoke comparisons with masters like Vince Flynn, Steve Berry, and James Rollins. An instant, surefire classic that is not to be missed.”
—Jon Land, bestselling author of Strong Justice

“Readers will cheer as Mack and his team solve the vexing problem of Somali pirates.”

    SEAL team thriller, very satisfying

If you like military or political potboilers, you'll like this one.
The frustration with Somalian pirates leads to development of a specialized SEAL team to address the problem, to provide a permanent solution.
Better than some of Robinson's books, which can drag, this moves right along. We all know what's going to happen, and it does.
    Justice is satisfying.

    Riveting

Absolutely a page turner! Pure action of the Navy Seals in action. I was completely washed out as if I had been on the ground with them. Definately recommended to anyone who wants to be entertained from cover to cover.

    Not his best work

He mailed this one in. While multiple story lines progressed, he never really tied them together until it was too late for a reader to continue to care. The attention to technical details that have always been a benchmark of the works of Clancy and a few others are woefully absent. Six people riding in an attack helicopter from Andrews AFB to the White House, 6.72 mm Russian ammunition and so many other incorrect details do tend to turn off technorthriller readers. Too bad. I've enjoyed his works in the past. But, he surely could have done better.

    Just of

It seems like Patrick Robinson is trying to fill the pages. So much trivia about the training necessary to do the job. Very predictable and certainly not as good as earlier books

    Interesting but Politi

It is a suspenseful book filled with ignorance or purposeful manipulation of historical and political facts from the extreme right-wing point of view of the author.
If you like that, you'll find the book very interesting.

    One of the Best

I have read many of Patrick Robinson's books, but this has to be his best ever. From believable characters to a situation right out of today's headlines, this story has it all.

    Exciting story line but......

I got this because of a nephew that was involved in this "business". The vulgarities especially use of the Lord's name in vain was too much.

    Just ok

I tried to like this, I really did. The action wasn't exciting, the characters weren't developed enough for me to even bother reading the last 30 pages. I didnt care evough about them.

I kept hoping for a Mitch Rapp style hero but this Mack character just didn't deliver.

Agree that Harriet Klausner is annoying.
